Just a thought.... Stan started Results day 5% down and ended up almost 2%. And up almost 4% yesterday. That's even before the buybacks have started.
By the way, so am I. Very overweight. :-)
And with these shares, which are the pick of the bunch, from a valuation perspective.

I did fix mine, Theo (through that Dragons Den thingy). Unfortunately my provider went bust, and was shfited back to Centrica at double the cost. They did send me a 3 year fixed offer, at an additional 25%-50% cost, fixed (can't remember the exact figure).
But my Centrica shares are up 56% in 6 months (in positive territory according to my Stock broker account, Scattergun). Not to mention BP and Shell - up 38% and 42% over 6 months, so am willing to grin and bear it and the lightly used petrol price rises.

Good point, TFE. I missed the "24 years". That's from 1998. He clearly has no knowledge of the 1970s and 1980s!

TLE... I wouldn't count on a big dividend, if I were you, although we may be in for a surprise, who knows? The fashion appears to be buybacks these days. It's fine by me.

Don't like it. I'm also personally very aware (without going into details for obvious reasons) of the mischief the Americans and the Brits have been up to in Ukraine over several years and in other parts of the former Soviet bloc.
It is interesting to see Canadian troops in the region (a neighbouring country). They were used as proxies by the U.S. in Ukraine. They have a large Ukrainian diaspora in Canada, I understand.

Very well said grizzle. But never fear, the two Bs are now "exploiting a window for peace" to snatch victory from a (so far non-existent) "Invasion".

I attended a very interesting talk by Sir Richard Stagg at a very posh Public School only last week. He was High Commisioner to India and Ambassador to Afghanistan before retiring.
He gave a detailed background to Societal makeup, political developments, and the c---ups of the Western Countries ovver several decades.
Two things he said stuck in my mind... the only two invaders to make a success of it were Alexander and Babur (who passed through on his way to India). And another interesting thing he said was that their sense of national identity was so strong that it was one of the few countries whose ethnic minorities bordering other countries did not fight for seperation. Unlike say India (separatist movements in Kashmir and the North East).
He also said ****stan's ISI had been a "malign" influence in that country. The ****stanis were fixated about India and the possibility that India might 'encircle' them in Afghanistan.
I put it to him that the situation was an exact parallel with the Putin situation. He initially misunderstood my point but when I clarified that it was the West that was fixated on Putin, and not the other way around, he said something like "well there's several thousaand across the the border"... then smiled and corrected himself and said... "but of course you're right... there's several hundred thousand Indian troops across the border in Kashmir".

And we care?

I agree. The Russians have said they have no intention. Biden has said (very stupidly in my view, but what do you expect) he will not engage the Russians militarily ir put troops on the ground.
It's only our stupid Politicians who are making all the noise. The "Munich" comment got a slap down from the Ukrainians. We simply cannot accept no one takes us seriously. Still smarting over Salisbury.
