RE: whats going on11 Nov 2019 16:04
Hi Garrold,
I trade via Hargreaves Lansdown ( hold an ISA and SIPP with them and trade from these).
I don't only trade UKOG, although it has been where I've seen my largest/quickest profits over the last two and half years.
Because of that I trade enough to qualify for a "discount" on their transaction fees.
Ordinarily their basic is £11.95 per transaction.
Above 12 per month (I think it is) it goes down to £8.95, then above so many more trades per month it comes down to £5.95.
That's what I'm currently being charged.
The current month's level of activity dictate your next month's charge amount.
I haven't looked, but have been advised there are cheaper deal out there (I'm happy where I am for now).
If you're not sure about trading, beware:- It is one of the highest risk methods of investing.
I consider myself very lucky but am responding to my own results when I review whether I should keep going.
Also, I have a "safer" strategy in a separate pot; Any profits I make from trading are divided and 50% is always re-invested in my 'normal' portfolio.
I have been successful enough to replace my original 'trading' capital and grow my profit enough that, whatever happens, I will always walk away in profit and can never lose now.
Getting to that bit is where the risk lies, if you manage your trading well.
:)
Not showing off, just trying to help others make profit (possibly by an alternative method).
Beware:
If the share is re-priced upwards and you have already sold for a quick return, you may not be able to buy back in without accepting some level of loss.
Similarly if you've decided to buy for a low price and things fall, or worse, that's when we lose.
I would suggest trying to make sure you bank at least some of the profits you may make, to reach a level where you're always in profit from that point on.
Never invest more than you could afford to lose and, if it doesn't work for you, accept that and walk away. Don't "double-down and lose more (the gambling sickness).
Not really advice, just how I play the game myself (for me, it's worked extremely well.., so far).
Good luck!
:)
