This morning I sold at 0.42p.
I just bought back at 0.348p.
If it does get back to 3p, I've just proved you wrong as mine will then equivalent to 3.007p.
I trade for quick Buys/Sells on the peaks and troughs.
Long holds (ESPECIALLY with a share like this) risks the volatility suddenly turning around and being left with a loss.

It was already 0.48p earlier.

averaging down only works if the stock goes back above the price you averaged down at so you can sell at profit and reduce some of the losses you were already sitting on.
It's a kind of 'trading' exercise, although many won't see it that way.
I left £50k in here around three years ago (from 1p down to 0.5p) when it started falling and had to do that to trade out those losses.
I sold the last tranche in January, to break even.

I bought and sold this morning for quick 10% profit.

I'm still here because I've never made as much profit on one share as I have from UKOG.
Not even close.
But that was over three years ago.
I'm no ramper.
Neither am I de-ramper.
I tell it as I see it.
I am still very negative on UKOG (even the current childish excitement), but I've still just bought in again because I think I can make a quick profit.
If not I know I can trade my losses round.

Why not take your money back and carry on playing with the rest (someone else's).

I bought £1000 some years ago at 3.2p and then sold at 10.2p.
I put the £1000 back into my 'safe' portfolio and rolled the rest above £100k, before it got too uncomfortable (I'm not used to having that much in companies like UKOG, lolol).
Even then I took £50k out and left £50k in.
That was a big mistake and it took me three years to trade it back up to £50k after the SP kept falling.

It's all a gamble.
Get your money back now then you can't lose, whatever happens.
