I was in and out last week for a small profit, but bought back in too early this week, after the fall.
Thought there might be a 0.02p bounce which would have been 10% for me.
Currently down, but not as bad as if I hadn't sold last week too.

Because there are occasions when it goes up and down quickly and with a wide margin, making decent quick returns possible.
As for holding for the long term, I'm as mystified as you (especially since I tried it and it took me two years to recover the fall in value.., by trading).

Why is it up from here?
I've been reading how it's "up from here" and "wouldn't want to be out over the weekend!" and "train's leaving the station" for four years.
Since it was 11p.
It's been down since then despite all the breakthroughs and attempts to spin it up by UKOG's dopey management and their paid rampers (and a few unpaid innocents).
There is no evidence to suggest that will change yet.
There are trading opportunities, that's all.

Have to agree there.
But I spend all day investing and have this window open all the time because it moves quickly, when it moves.
Seeing half of what goes through here does indeed make me sad.

Similarly, when I'm 'out' I leave a Buy pending order for less than I think the SP will go.
(In the belief that the SP should recover to a higher price quickly, if the market thinks they were worth more).

I think I may have lost on my latest bet.
I'm on a 'wait-and-see' policy here.
If/when I buy back (I'm in at the moment) I automatically leave a Sell pending order with a price higher than I think it will go.
If that happens (it can happen overnight or in a sudden spike), I'll get a nice surprise.
Otherwise, if I see it go 10% above my buy price I take it as quick as I can.

I'm investing less at a time here now (only £1000 at a time), so I have to be more aware of the cost of making trades.
They have a bigger % impact on smaller amounts.

Just to clarify, the 5M you're referring to is shares not GBP.
5M shares is less than £10k.
£10k is a PI, not a professional.
I trade in tranches of £10k* and I'm no professional.
If the trade had been £5M, yes it would likely be a professional who would now own one fifth of UKOG, or an idiot because they'd have to offer to buy out all other shareholders (not sure if them's the rules under AIM).

*I have only been prepared to risk trading here in £1k chunks for the last six months.
