Under our chairman Mr Ian Burke has released a trading statement today warning on profits sending their share price tumbling. I hope that isn’t a bad omen for us.

Agreed Jerry and it was pleasing to see this point underscored in the second paragraph of Mr East’s opening comments. I accept that reported earnings is just a numerical photograph of the previous years trading but whichever way you look at it our share price is extremely well priced and judging by the share price movement today getting cheaper by the second disappointingly.

Our P/E ratio based upon the final results for 2017 is 3.69 according to the London Stock Exchange. We now have the second lowest positive P/E ratio of the one hundred companies listed on the FTSE behind BAT whose P/E ratio is a very impressive 2.22. I cant explain why Hargreaves Lansdown is quoting a higher figure but all other information websites are quoting figures similar to the LSE figure.

With a P/E ratio of 3.80, RR must now be the best share to buy long term in the FTSE. It is clear that daily traders are still ignoring basic company fundamentals.

Was the date that a post closed period trading statement was released last year. I am hoping Wednesday (4th) or Thursday (5th) will see the release this year.

No pre Easter update unfortunately despite the fact that there are only two days left of our financial year. Fingers and toes crossed for some positive news flow next week.

There will be a pre closed period trading statement which I am hoping will be released before Easter. In previous years this statement has caused the share price to fluctuate wildly. We were told that January had been quiet so let’s hope that revenue has increased again in February and March. With ten days left of the financial year we don’t have long to wait to find out.

So much for the support at £2.28 theory !

Very simple calculation - £25m pre tax profit, ten times earnings equals £250m divide by the number of shares (86,442,534) equals £2.89.

Resistance broken. Holding above this level will provide support for the share price. Ejackson, remember we are also still paying back consumers for the rogue financial products that were sold. My guess is that any free cash flow will go towards paying off those liabilities rather than a dividend payment for shareholders.

The reintroduction of a dividend payment would indeed send out all the right messages but I suspect they will defer this decision, electing instead to continue reducing core debt.

Probably just a coincidence Columbo but another L, Lspoon1 was mildly negative about the prospects of Findel up until the half year results release. I think the positive tone of those results would appear to have blunted that negative sentiment. Please read my post dated 3rd March Lbright, the information you require as regards dates in in there. Thank you Ejackson, pleased you are still in and increasing your holding. Exceptional items are a dim and distant memory now, finally we can look forward to recording a genuine pre tax profit for the first time in several years. I see Mr Rowleys presence in our boardroom during meetings as a positive move. Could this be a prelude to Sports Direct making a formal offer for Findel. Whatever the outcome, the future for the company and its shareholders is a great deal more secure than it was one year ago.

Over one million shares have now changed hands in the last thirty hours and £2.28 is still putting up stiff resistance. I was rather hoping that the very positive announcement yesterday would push the price up closer to £2.50. Ejackson, have you sold up ? I am interested to hear your views now that Sports Direct have agreed to supply Express Gifts. You mentioned Liam Rowley in one of your posts just after he was appointed by Sports Direct some weeks ago.

Well done Mr East, excellent presentation, robust set of results. Could not ask for any more. Our investments are safe in his hands.

Three large transactions after the close that are listed as sells but I suspect they are buys that had been agreed earlier in the day. Over 950,000 shares changed hands today which is over one per cent of the total in circulation. We may receive a holdings in company RNS in the next few days.

Difficult to know the finer detail Columbo. I can’t help wondering whether I inadvertently stumbled upon price sensitive information which prompted the RNS today. It sounds to me like both companies are still in discussion about the extent of the product range and pricing. This makes me think that the announcement to the Market had been scheduled at the same time as the pre closed period trading statement later on this month or early next month.

Very pleased to read this news but why has it taken so long to put in place an arrangement that was so beneficial to both parties and glaringly obvious to the rest of us. Better late than never. This could comfortably add £20m to our revenue. I now see £3 per share a realistic and achievable target.

Thanks Grayling. The FT article is more likely the culprit for the lack of progress today. RR are trying their best to leak out the bad news before Wednesday.
