Well, our vaccine strategy is going well.

It's a sad state pf affairs when a comedian gives the best assessment of MPX situation in the US, a monumental f#@@ up from start to finish.

I'm old enough to remember when Innova were facing criminal investigation for plagiarizing their clinical data that they'd supplied in their FDA submission for their covid lft which was subsequently banned from sale in the US. Our government in their infinite wisdom blew billions with them based on the same data ;-)
They're an inscrutable bunch.
On May 25th there'd been 274 cases reported in 21 countries. However, on the 17th there'd only been 21 cases after the first had been confirmed on the 6th. So this company is trying to claim they'd seen the clinical global need for this assay and went through the CE validation process when they'll have had access to around 20 samples globally for validation. You'd struggle to put together an ruo assay in that time frame.
No kaeren the situation hasn't changed, there's nowhere near enough vaccine supply this year. This was highlighted by WHO two weeks ago. To compound the issue, Japan's only smallpox vaccine manufacturer has outright refused to supply anyone but the Japanese government.
Just announced it after my post, we'll see if other countries follow suit.

Biden expected to announce it before the weekend, increased testing, PPE, treatments etc.

Including it's endemic countries, there have been 27k cases in over 90 countries (83 non endemic). There is zero chance that there will be enough vaccine available for the current 'at risk' population in 2022, once again individual countries are scrabbling for vaccine supply acting unilaterally rather than acting in any kind of cohesive way with others.
I think the chance to eradicate it in the short term has passed us by, at best we may see it continuing presenting in lower numbers as an STD due it appearing to be the most convenient mode of transmission. I see no reason not to go with a CE mark purely on that basis and add it to the bank of upcoming STD assays in development. Early onset symptoms are very similar to a lot of STDs so they're going to have to keep testing. A recent study of 22 samples found MPX virus in the semen of 19 so there's every chance it's being transmitted pre-symptomatically, before the emergence of lesions etc.
Imo
Ok pl100, what should they be doing in terms of development? Illuminate me..
Cold chain shipping costs far more than ambient shipping, so there's a cost saving already .
I've been ruthlessly critical of the management is the past but sometimes you've got to give props when they're due. If you can't see any positives in your investment then sell up and move on instead of torturing yourself daily with negativity.
It's a disruptive technology, no cold chain or cat 2 lab required. Can be taken and deployed anywhere in the world. I'm not aware of any other equivalent diagnostics system, it may not impress LSE posters but you can guarantee the industry will take note.
@B2HS2L - last week there was (still is) a US testing firm pushing a private mail in MPX oral swab PCR test, when pushed about supporting clinical data they admitted it was validated against only 24 samples, their own clients.
I'd seen a fair few Chinese firms pushing CE mark MPX tests as early as late June.
Farne island have already been shut down, birds all over north east coast quite a tragic sight. Relatively little risk to humans though, that said
I bet they said the same in Wuhan.
@kaeren, as discussed yesterday. 22yr old tests positive for MPX in Dubai and returns on a flight to India before being admitted to hospital and dying. Parents didn't notify Indian health authority that he had monkey pox until Saturday because of the stigma associated with the disease and he travelled knowingly potentially exposing god knows how many people including the medical staff treating him. That's how it will get out of the MSM population.
