" Last question - should the Czech Republic support subsidies such as Germany to develop investment in energy storage?
Prus: Based on my many years of experience, I don't think subsidies are a good means of developing the market. It is just a constant redistribution of money, which is often inefficient, and it ties the entrepreneurs very hard. For the development of the market and new investment projects, it will surely be better if it does not depend on subsidies.
On the other hand, batteries are currently a strategic raw material for both the Czech Republic and the European Union. In this respect, I regret that the current government does not communicate with us more about possible cooperation.
Procházka: Every new technology usually starts with state subsidies for some time. Even lithium batteries have reached the current state of development after about 20 billion euros of state subsidies. In addition, if we want to develop massively renewables in the future, we need to ensure their storage so that these unstable resources are stabilized by the batteries.
We must also remember that batteries are the key to the development of electromobility. Therefore, the Czech government should set reasonable limits for the development of the battery industry in the Czech Republic. In this way, we could support not only electromobility but also the development of renewable resources."
indeed communicate!
