Ian12 is an interesting character. There is nothing he has said that is incorrect, it's just that he always looks at things from a very negative perspective. He has chosen those large figures of 5p & 10p because they seem more frightening and doom laden than the fractions of a penny that they are now, before consolidation. I don't know whether this is done from a position of ignorance, stupidity, or perhaps winding people up? He will of course say that he is just speaking the truth as he sees it. From a very dark and pessimistic point of view. Not constructive in any way, maybe that's the way he lives his life, as Johnny the painter on the Fast Show, "It's all black, dark, dark, Mother, crashing into the abyss". Better avoided I suggest. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XAERxf4yYaw
