This is not playing out the way Trump expected. Strategic oil reserves are not unlimited and a lot of the ground extraction has now been put into cold storage. Oil prices will not come down to sub $80 for a while imo.

There was a time last week where I thought they would get control of the situation quickly but now I don't see how they can do that without a ground invasion. Even in guerilla mode the Iranians can still disrupt the Strait.

And we have forgotten that IAGs results prior to all this were not amazing. They were good but there was a bit of weakness, particularly in that trends were negative.

If it goes below 320 I will load up, and I will ride it to 400 but not above.

You must have a very dim world-view if you think that the proletariat class stand a chance during an uprising against autocratics in today's age. The Chinese tried it, the Kurds tried it, the Georgians tried it.... I could go on. They generally got bombed, attacked with chemicals and machine gunned.

People live in fear and oppression all over the world. Just because there are a lot of them often counts for very little if they don't have the guns.

I'm not sure anyone is "in the right" about any of this, and that just makes the whole thing worse to witness.

I freed up 20% of my portfolio yesterday to see what happened today.

Bought in this morning at open, shat it, sold within 5 minutes and took a small hit as a result. Truly a stupid move.

Realised I cant trade this without emotion so I should absolutely not be trading it. Im now watching the share price out of interest more than anything. Good luck to those that had the stones to get involved with this share right now.

That's why I am lukewarm/negative on dividends for IAG. Dividends are basically just a transfer of capital from the stock to cash for most people.

If a stock generally drops on ex-divi day by the value of the dividend, and the Spanish take a cut of the dividend payment, then holders effectively just transfer a small amount of their capital to the Spanish government. It could actually better value for money to sell the stock so you don't qualify for the dividend, then rebuy (however this is also pointless due to fees).

AJBell also do not support a way to reclaim the tax.

Offloaded this at 412 before earnings and came straight back in on Monday morning when it was clearly oversold last week. It's been a good week.

Going to wait a day or two and watch the resistance at 400, if it breaks through easily I might throw a bit back in. But this week was the quick money.

I think it's more than that, and includes the saber rattling going on in eastern European airspace recently- which is a much greater threat to air travel than exploiting vulnerabilities in baggage check-in (though you can bet they went after bigger fish too).

Impossible to know how this will play out, but I'd put money on Putin attempting to escalate this further. He's making it quite clear that they can affect international air travel if they want to. By causing tension, hes able to distract from the fact the Russian economy is finally starting to show cracks.

Not before it tests resistance which will probably be around 399.50. Hopefully there aren't that many limit-sells sitting there waiting to be triggered, but it's a natural place for them.

The last good chancellor was Gordon Brown, since then its been a shower of idiots. The attack on UK bonds and the resulting fallout in borrowing costs can very straightforwardly be attributed to consistent short-termism since 2008. Nothing has been handled well fiscally since then- we werent borrowing when we should have been and are borrowing too much when we shouldnt be.

Quantitative easing was too gung-ho, and it wasnt accompanied by heavy public investment when it was the exact time to do it. Current quantitative tightening is now too aggressive and there are no more assets left to offload- so borrowing is the only way. QT is the reason bond yields are going up- Reeves could be putting pressure on the BoE but perhaps for once in the last 15 years someone is actually thinking longer term than the next election.

To attribute this mess to Reeves is just silly (in fact it shows your own lack of understanding of economics)- the tories put us here.

It has been trading sideways recently, it's quite possible people are waiting on the sidelines to see what happens. Low volume means it's really easy to influence the SP if you're a big institutional player and you take an inclination to do so- keep that in mind
