RC Fornax (RCFX) shares plummeted 52 per cent in early trading after the Aim-traded defence consultancy, which listed in February, slashed its annual profit forecast because of clients cutting short-term spending and warned that demand headwinds could persist for several months.

Guidance is now for annual revenue of not less than £4mn. That is almost a third of house broker Cavendish’s previous expectation of £11.5mn.

Management pointed to a “marked increase in customer engagement” since the release of the UK strategic defence review earlier this month. But it flagged that its sales team “has not been able to convert a strong pipeline of leads into revenue-generating contracts at the rate expected”
