RE: TOFFERS FAREWELL XXX21 Mar 2024 11:07
Each to their own I say Steve077, but assuming that one always sticks to ones' 'stop/loss' figure, then cashing a loss in, can reap dividends (excuse the pun). I sold (just for example, as I have done this quite a few times) Darktrace last year. I put what was left into Rolls Royce and am now up over 300% - and over 260% more than I would be, had I remained in DT. Sometimes, selling is a very prudent (and disciplined) option to take. It doesn't always work of course, but overall I am most definitely 100% better off financially, for having realised losses and moved the money on elsewhere, to try and recoup them. For me, it's about protecting my overall 'portfolio value', so sometimes individual shares have to be ruthlessly cut-out; a bit like substituting a poorly performing player on the pitch, to help ensure team success! That's only my approach and each to their own. . . . ATB
