Predator Oil & Gas has launched the drillg of the MOU-5 well Guercif, an estimated potential of several billion cubic feet of gas. Close to the Maghreb-Europe gas pipe, this project could transform the Moroccan energy landscape and also cludes an opportunity to exploit helium, a highly valued resource on the world market.
the launch of the MOU-5 well drillg, Predator Oil & Gas aims to confirm the energy potential of the Guercif region, where it has been conductg operations for several years. This project is based on encouragg forecasts and a frastructure that could accelerate its development.
A strategic drillg promisg prospects
Predator Oil & Gas begs, this Monday, March 3, the drillg of the MOU-5 well Guercif, a strategic project that is part of gas exploration Morocco. Accordg to the CEO of the British company, Paul Griffiths, this operation aims to probe an area of 187 km² potential recoverable resources estimated at 5.9 trillion cubic feet of gas (TCF). The work, which should last about 12 days, marks a key step for the British junior, which is focussg on rapid and efficient development thanks to the proximity of the Maghreb-Europe gas pipe, located only three kilometres from the drillg site.
This strategic geographical positiong could greatly facilitate the production of extracted gas, reducg frastructure costs and allowg a direct connection to the regional network. Predator Oil also benefits from a tax regime, a corporate tax exemption durg the first ten years, an additional asset for the ability of the project.
Significant potential for helium and compressed natural gas
addition to natural gas, the MOU-5 well could conta another treasure: helium. Accordg to a gas sample taken from the MOU-3 well, helium concentrations could vary from 0.11% to 4.06%, an average estimate of about 1.3%. This rate could result recoverable raw resources of 76.5 billion cubic feet of helium, a resource whose value far exceeds that of natural gas. a sellg price of more than $400 per thousand cubic feet, helium could be a major economic asset for Predator Oil Morocco.
If the volumes of gas discovered prove to be than anticipated, the company plans to exploit them the form of compressed natural gas (CNG), an option already put forward Chariot Energy for its project the Loukos region. this perspective, Predator Oil relies on a partnership Afriquia Gaz, which could buy the gas directly from the head of the well. This approach would optimise ability, the price of CNG for dustrial buyers beg estimated at $12 per thousand cubic feet, a price much more attractive than that of gas sold through the ma pipe.
