Expert review on Homegrown coal20 Oct 2020 08:10
Well thank you 99Icecream that’s certainly a fantastic find and published only a few days ago too! These are a panel of respected experts brought together for a virtual conference to look at how Bangladesh proceeds. Some of them may have been involved with the original reviews. This is another tick in the GCM/Phulbari box that the mining of Phulbari is the best way forward if Bangla wants its own reliable and cheap power source. Other methods can be used to enhance this eventually, but quite frankly if Bangla wants to hoik itself up and provide its citizens with modern day basics like cheap and reliable power for everyone and importantly industry too, then this is where it begins.
I have never felt more confident that this is going to happen nay has to happen. Supplementary greener power can be introduced as economy grows but basics first eh... like a homegrown coal fed power system! The panel’s review is simply common sense and as they’ve analysed; really it’s the fastest, cheapest and easier option. They have to accept and Hasina has to accept that in order to grow and elevate as a nation then they must use this as their foundation for the benefit of all its citizens.
If this is what the experts are advising and in these new Covid times - reliability and self sufficiency has to be the main key driver. It’s not clever for the Gov to be simply relying on expensive imports of lesser grade coal/LPG from abroad if they can’t be delivered and supply chain interrupted in this new Covid landscape or be able to have any control at all or have even ability to fix costs in world markets.
Let the foolish trolls now come forth...ah I see they’ve already arrived. Lol.
