Being relatively new to this share thing and not having experienced something like this in the last 4 years can someone please explain the rationale behind todays drop. My understanding is that the markets look forward. They look for income and growth. With the exception of one of the business sections this is the case, profits are above market expectations divided yeild is high (at 47p or 43p). Underlying costs are down and there has been a succesfull aquisition during the year. Further the company has spent the last month buying it own shares (and my understanding will be for the the next month), so tradable stock should be diminishing. I appreciate buys/sells is not accurate but there has been a distinct trend to the buying side today, yet the price has not moved. Thanks
I hope this isn't so far under the radar that no one notices they are released! The company share buy back is in full swing. I would hope this will be rising. Although going into print usually means the reverse will happen.
buys are larger than sells for the first time since i can remember. The last few days have seen a nice start to a little recovery (althought this post will probably put a stop to it) \hopefully this will continue until the results arrive on the 25th
is definfatley under the radar. I think it is being puished for the poor performance of the other half of the company. One of the issues withall the buys is that it is the company buying the shares. Whilst held in treasury they are in effect out of circulation so this should increase the sp but isn't doing so. I think the management need to get out there and spread the word and publish their success. there are some abalysts who tip this share to make it to 70-75p and I agree that is where it should be. I am hoping we will start to see movement soon as results are due out on the 25th May and I expect them to be better than the current sp suggests.
The geriatrics are picking up their pace again! and they will be handing out the dividends on the 1st of Oct too. I would like to see this get above the £4 mark and stay there. I see there are rumours (no source quoted) in the FT and repeated on Bloomberg that they are looking to make another sale in London. This time of Bishops Place for £550M. Would love to know what they are going to do with all of this money they have made from sales of existing buildings.
I've been away for the last two weeks, and am still catching up on the telegraphs business section, but I can't find any mention of Hammersons. - Is there a link to the article. I agree these shares are a hold. HMSO is sat on a lot of capital at the moment (three big sales this year) two were in France when the exchange rate was almost 1:1 so convertion into sterling would have helped thje bank balence. I am expecting an annoucement about an inverstment they will be making at some stage as there is no point sitting on the capital. I know they have planning permission for phase 2 in Southampton and I expect this to start soon. In the medium to long turn this can only be good.
Do you have the link to the article. I invested after the split as like you I liked the 9% yield, but also because I saw the potential for growth in the regions CWC operate in. I have not seen many articles about CWC since the split as most are concentrated on the other half of the company (which appears to be having some trouble). It would be nice to read some one else upbeat assesment. I have in the past seen some very generous target prices of 85p but I think this is either a long way off or a bit high - personally I am targeting 70p in the next 9 months.
Are you still watching / in with this? I have been watching for some time as I see it as a play on London Commercial property prices with a good yield. Watched it fall a week or so back and got in at the 284 level, just because all the indicators said that was terribly low. It has almost managed a 10% increase in a week which is very nice :-) . Not really sure where I am going with it now what do you think short term (next 10 days) this will get to if you are still watching?
