An equity swap is a financial derivative contract (a swap) where a set of future cash flows are agreed to be exchanged between two counterparties at set dates in the future. The two cash flows are usually referred to as "legs" of the swap; one of these "legs" is usually pegged to a floating rate such as LIBOR. This leg is also commonly referred to as the "floating leg". The other leg of the swap is based on the performance of either a share of stock or a stock market index. This leg is commonly referred to as the "equity leg". Most equity swaps involve a floating leg vs. an equity leg, although some exist with two equity legs.

Buying in at that price your risks are zero. For those of us with average prices much higher we have concerns about at what price any hostile bid may be made. Sit back and enjoy the divi - and hopefully the SP rise!

It would explain why nobody is receiving any response from investor relations. Has anyone received a response yet?

It may well be oldish - but it is consistent with the information I have been obtaining. I'm also hearing that the recent/current NHS 'crisis' has led to an increase in their health insurance business.

It's not so much what I'm saying, more what they are saying. We are not getting all the usual excuses ; "difficult trading conditions", "Brexit", "currency fluctuations", etc. Everything coming out (which is not much) is still very positive And I agree Marfthew - A favourable trading statement would be rather helpful at the moment!

I do share your concerns chaps - I am in the same sinking boat as you all. I'm just passing on what I'm hearing. They also trimmed 2% of their staff in December to further lower costs - business is good and advance bookings for the new cruise ship are also very good. Like everyone else I also do not understand who & why the loss selling is continuing. Maybe the year-end results will be our salvation?

To quote from the CEO's January update to staff........... "Saga is in good shape as we enter a new financial year. The company is profitable, has low debts and sells excellent products" Keep the faith everyone, this will come round

Hold your nerves guys - I'd dream of an average as low as yours. I know some people who work there (not in junior positions) who tell me that trading is good. Although unable to understand why anyone would be selling now, this must be strong hold.

Totally agree - also completely baffled. Surely, they can't all be day traders who bought in at �1.22?

winorlose1987 I don't believe Saga motor insurance is any different from anyone else. All brokers seem to increase their pricing after the first year or two. It's just a matter of speaking to them, asking them to look at other Underwriter options and offering alternatives. My Saga renewal last month was also a £80 increase plus an increased excess. I spoke to them and they eventually found an alternative offering that gave me a zero increase and a reduced excess. I have to agree with others on here - this is oversold and will eventually climb back up, but maybe not fully until the final dividend is confirmed along with a strong profit forecast

Equally puzzled. Solid growth in recent years, increased dividend each year and serving an ever-increasing custom base of over 50s. Add to that 2 new cruise ships on the horizon.

A price drop just before a significant RNS - now that's a rarity!
