Even though patients are anonymised in trials, the original three are a tiny group. In a trial this small, confirming the status of a specific individual(especially if one has had a negative outcome) can inadvertently lead to their identification.
If a patient or their family explicitly asked for privacy, the company would be legally and ethically bound to respect that, even if shareholders are clamoring for info.
