Bats are a usual source for these types of viruses. Amazing how these viruses mutate and change must be very interesting work for the scientist involved.

I was in Vietnam 14 months ago although not a rich country and still have bears in cages to get bile to sell to the Chinese mumbo jumbo pharmacies they have done well with no ? Reported covid-19 cases. I went into a small restaurant and they had a snake (dead) in a jar which they were selling small beakers of snake blood. Also crickets on the menu, we settled for egg fried rice, well I hope that was what it was. Still that’s the way thing are in poorer countries so we cannot say they are bad. More bad was America dumping agent orange, and all the tonnes of bombs which still maim some unsuspecting farm workers.

It’s in the wording ,although they Oxford biomedica say it’s none profit and no royalties which is true if Jenner come up with a vaccine. The money that Oxford will make is from the production line , hence oxbox which will shortly be able to turn out a significant number of vaccines.

Yes I would say that a large bio pharma wether in the uk, America, Europe, china' or Japan may well buy them out. In regards to takeovers in General I think that a lot of pharma will be looking to merge or takeovers as it makes very good sense in this climate as in the future countries will be trying to manage there own debit and not giving grants out to companies for R&D . Just my thinking.

December 2018 was when it was announced that GSK. Would be split. Since then there has been a lot of work done on how and what is included in the split. Also the legal side.

This obviously takes a lot of time to sort out . I have had shares in two other large companies that had a split and was very happy with gaining money out of them.

Once the split happens and you are allotted shares in the spin off then it down to you or wether you sell your shares for a profit or loss in either company. Or hold and just take or reinvest the dividends. My personal view is it’s a very positive thing for shareholders.

It may not be easy But it’s happening and will happen.

Claims, many other companies are starting to make these announcements. Over 1110 companies are now working towards covid 19 tests. As retired copper says stick with the big guys, AstraZeneca, GSK, swath of big American pharma companies plus large euro,

And also the likes of Unilever. Having said that I do have Oxford biomedica . I’m keeping well away from banks and insurance.

I think the movement in the sp is about the oxbox coming on stream, that’s where they are going to make stable cash stream. Exciting.

Although I think it’s a good company I’m a bit concerned as is everyonewith any common sense about the economic affect of covid- 19 . So I have added to Lazard global infrastructure fund as it should give a certain amount of inflation protection which will include h2 train, and road toll companies etc. Also concentrating on Oxford biomedica and gsk my main holding.

Also have funds in uk inflation linked gilts. The first thing to happen now in my opinion is a slight deflation companies offloading stock then a horrible rise in inflation . As I say just my opinion I could well be wrong, but I don’t think so. Good luck to all and stay safe.

The movements in shares are the lifeblood of the markets. I for one buy and sell and hopefully make a profit. Although I am quite happy with the dividend I get from GlaxoSmithKline which amounts to just over £1000, per annum which I would not get in a bank.. The split involves billions of pounds which takes time to sort out.

M.D. many thanks for the info. I think at some stage the uk will have to bring out some partial healthcare cover. I lived in Australia for 20 years before coming back to the uk and the Medicare and state cover they had worked ok, except for dentistry ,which seems the same everywhere Expensive.

Well I have to say I disagree with your comment about nothing in Europe comes close. Gsk, Abcam , and Cambridge uni would have far better research facilities. Also says a lot when he has to come to the uk for funding taking into consideration the money that’s floating around in the USA mega bio pharma Industry. I do wish America would dump trump he’s a absolute disgrace.

I’m biased but my money is on Jenner and ox uni to actually come up with a vaccine. Hundreds of collaborations going on around the world. Good online source is biospace very uptodate reporting.

Didn’t know about the Lonza deal. Hope it goes well in all the poor countries that they are going to use it as that’s where the greater danger of deaths will be.
