The main problem with electric vehicles is .... the batteries. A battery works by the internal reactance of of the metals/chemicals used which is why they deteriorate over time. Eventually they become a box of toxic goo.
The only clean way is a hydrogen fuel cell, however, because of the way consumer driven economics work we have to go all the way down the EV blind alley first.
Also, my personal bug bear, is the fact that the biggest use of resources is building the thing in the first place.
Most cars spend at least 95% of their lives parked outside homes or places of work.
One day soon I'm convinced you'll be able to tap an app and a suitable driverless car, size and distance, will appear at your door.
Oh well, not sure if I'm a visionary or dreamer lol.
