UET don't have to be directly making the effort in Africa for a buyer to change their trajectory. Who is actually making the sales calls isn't really the point. Who controls the company,the relationships it purses and its ongoing choices is.

I would also suggest that within their role as providers of fuel, the majors such as the Shells and BP's of the world will be very interested in the control of what powers the batteries they are getting more and more interested in.

They will have to beat Siemens and co to it...

I think those who have expressed views not in support of the venue being referred to as ignorant and nauseating is not exactly the best way of creating unity, but not really surprising as a response either. You should keep it at the EIC then none of us ignorant and over-sensitive types will attend. By the way, many of us know our history.

And honestly, so what if the EIC is inclusive these days. why not just pick somewhere that isn't a focal point of colonial history.

Totally agree on the EIC. I am amazed it was suggested to be honest. A very clumsy choice considering its history and the unavoidable connotations. I have friends of different nationalities and some would most certainly not want to put one foot in that building. Equally, for a modern and exciting investment could we not pick somewhere equally modern and welcoming to investors of all ages and backgrounds, rather than just one that makes older white gentlemen feel welcome. Beatthebroker, I agree wholly.

There is a fundamental difference between the comparison of VHS and Betamax, and VRFB and Lithium batteries that simply makes the comparison irrelevant. The world wanted one format for watching recorded content at the time. Until very recently it has always worked for manufacturers and consumers within that industry to focus on universal platforms. That's why there was a winner.

Where batteries are concerned there is an innate need for battery types that meet different requirements. Project specifications will and do demand consideration of the appropriate technology to meet each set of requirements - exactly as Eskom are doing. This means considering a wide range of factors from. safety to lifespan, to scale, geography and lifecycle costs and so on. As the industry progresses the solutions on offer will become more and more nuanced and improve in effectiveness and this will demand a range of technologies that excel in different areas.

It just isn't an either or situation. For example, China aren't choosing between lithium or vanadium batteries. They are deploying both.

Tbh if a move like that caused someone to sell they don't deserve to have any shares.

People have literally said this since 2p. There will always be sellers simply because everyone's investment rationale is different. It doesn't diminish the opportunity or investment. For example last week lots bought in at 30p and for those who live week to week, 30% (ish) is a good return. For those invested in the Bushveld story 30% doesn't even warrant a sideways glance when you consider what's on offer.

If that was any more explicit it would have an 18 rating.

True - but who else actually delivers to spec, what BMN could. And that's the critical point for me. There will be some severe egg on some very vocal faces if a local SA business doesn't win. It may be part, but it will have to be a big part.
