There are two updates from last week with respect to Model Portfolio names Pantheon Resources Plc (PANR) and Willis Towers Watson (WTW):

PANR provided a testing update for its Talitha #A well last Monday which was very well received by the market, with the stock rising ~55% initially (it has since pulled back a little, but remains up ~48% on the pre-update price).

In simple terms, the testing update proved the movability and quality of oil at Talitha, which has very significant and positive implications for PANR’s enormous Theta West zone. With an NPV estimate of ~$5.4bn for the Alkaid Shallow SMD zone (~400m BO recoverable) at $90 oil, upon further validation at Theta West (which is now currently being tested), the value implication for Theta West’s estimated 1.2 bn BO recoverable is clearly very significant as oil approaches $100/barrel.

PANR is up ~110% since I first highlighted it last September, and I expect any positive update from Theta West to drive the stock price substantially higher

We have been working closely with the government in identifying the gaps that are hindering our gas development and commercialization. There exists the possibility of self-funding by the business if there is a viable business opportunity, but it entails working very closely with the government. We see a lot of promise and opportunities in the future as we are currently involved in the 7 Critical Gas Development Project (7CGDP), spearheaded by the NNPC which is tasked with delivering 3 bcf per day to the domestic market by 2023.

I just sold my holding at a loss.
Didnt wish to but am forced into it by incompetence of current management.

The Special Dividend is taxable as income to shareholders in the UK and I assume Ireland (Revenue in both countries usually treat these matters identically) where I am resident.

I will lose 40% of the dividend in income tax. So I gain 60% in income but lose an equivalent 100% through the share consolidation, as my shareholding will be reduced by the amount of the gross dividend.

So an action that is intended to preserve the share price causes me to have to sell my shares.
The tax advice for UK residents means that all higher rate tax payers are going to needlessly LOSE money.
I can only conclude that this company couldn't give a fiddler's for the private shareholder.
The CFO is paid an obscene £807k a year....and he comes up with this!!!

The consolidation is purely to preserve the market price of the share...just optics

Brilliant article Alaric and may I say excellently written up, so glad this has been found as once 20m barrels of oil had been produced part of sle% would have gone to biliton, now sle % just gets bigger of a world class oil field.

Roughly the charge for every barrel that flows through the pipeline which sle will get the lions share is $5pb

I think production costs are $10 a barrel.
