Damien Moore MP commented:
“It is difficult to overstate the potential of these plans for Southport."
“Once built, the new clean energy facility will be one of the first in the UK using EQTEC’s technology, which will spur Southport forward in becoming one of the country’s most environmentally sustainable towns and create around 40 fantastic highly-skilled new jobs in the process."
“We should all be proud that this state-of-the-art facility will be coming to Southport. It is such great news that up to 20% of our Southport’s energy needs could be generated within our town, and in a sustainable way too, by cleanly and efficiently making better use of our non-recyclable waste."
“I am looking forward to seeing this exciting development progress and stand ready to offer any support I can to see the plans realised as soon as possible.”

A new document, 'EQTEC Advanced Gasification Technology Information Paper' is now available to download from the EQTEC website,

Worth a read as it's a good collection of info about EQTEC, who they are, what they do, what their technology is and how it works, etc

Wilseyville is looking like it will be the next EQTEC/Phoenix Energy plant to be built in California. There was a public hearing on Monday 11th January to hear an appeal against the planning permission for the plant which was granted in November.
The Calaveras County Board of Supervisors voted unanimously to reject the appeal so the original decision stands and the project now has all the required permits.
For anyone who's interested, the meeting is available to watch here,

It seems that the organisation who appealed the decision, 'Citizens for Responsible Industry', routinely appeal many green energy projects in California as a way to force their interest in unionised labour onto those projects. No doubt they will appeal against other EQTEC/Phoenix Energy projects in the future. The encouraging thing is that every point they raised was comprehensively rebutted by the planners, the Board of Supervisors, Phoenix Energy and members of the public.
A number of members of the public spoke up at the hearing in favour of the plant and why it was desperately needed. No-one spoke against it apart from Citizens for Responsible Industry.
Greg Stangl said that Phoenix Energy have been working on this project for 10 years to get to this stage!
Let's hope future projects in California take considerably less time.
A few photos of North Fork construction here from November....

We know from this document that the date for North Fork to be connected to the electricity grid, by the utility company, is 31st March 2022.

Also, Greg Stangl (Phoenix Energy CEO) said in November that North Fork was expected to be 'online mid 2022'

Yes there is, it's a great group.

Hi aandi - the info about the plan to build a sauna at North Fork to use some of the waste heat came from Greg Stangl (Phoenix Energy CEO) when answering questions (about the proposed 3MW Wilseyville plant) at the Calaveras County Planning Commission last month. He also said that the only 'real' use that they have for waste heat at North Fork and Wilseyville is in the rotary drier at each plant, to dry the woodchips before they go into the gasifier.
So DP and the team have been to Billingham again, that's two director level visits in the last five weeks.....
They were last there on 27th October and after the visit DP said,
"The team, like our CTO, my COO and myself were yesterday in Billingham. We were visiting our neighbours in Billingham. It’s a very interesting industrial estate with huge industrial and chemicals partners that not only are they looking at how they can decarbonise the electricity that they're using, these are industries with very very heavy demand of electrical and thermal energy but now also we are opening discussions in all those sites about utilising the syngas as a fuel in some of the processes. Providing steam as well and also extracting methane or hydrogen from our syngas. That's going to be more and more important and relevant, there’s a lot of incentives in the government now, everyone knows from biofuels and renewable fuel incentives and all these companies that are in that space, they require the raw material that we produce which is a syngas, where we have, where we're able to control not only the quality but also produce a syngas to the specific specification of the specific process that the catalyser requires."
Lots going on.....hopefully very close to financial close now or at least KIBO handing over their £3M so EQTEC can invoice the SPV for development services before the end of the year.
I think you missed where the £10m is going......
It's an investment in the project SPV, in line with EQTEC's strategy,
The complete context from the RNS,
"The Parties are seeking a minimum of £10 million of third-party funding in order to bring the Project to Financial Close. Following receipt of such funding, EQTEC will invoice £1,500,000 for its project development services to the Project SPV...."
Explanation of the strategy from DP on Twitter, 20th Sept
" ....in line with our strategy of selling the majority stake in a mature Project SPV, in the last stages toward financial close and construction. Enabling EQTEC to bill for our development services, at 50%+ margin, whilst protecting our capital."
Nothing to do with a placement...
North Fork Community Development Council have posted the minutes from their monthly meeting on 22nd November. Reference to the plant is short and sweet as we've come to expect now,
"Biomass plant – construction and financial update: Wade Wheeler reported that the contractors will be mobilized in December as $2.5 million has been released."
https://northforkcdc.org/?p=6707
Yes, EQTEC previously announced the advanced gasification plant will be Phase II.
Interestingly there is now also a Phase III (not previously mentioned) - something from our new best friends Wood Group perhaps....
Planning application submitted for Phase I of Southport Energy Recovery Park
Erection of a new anaerobic digestion Waste to Energy facility, with associated ancillary buildings, administration building, weighbridge control, staff and visitor parking."
"The proposal for the site is focused on dividing the site into 3 Plots and therefore, 3 phases with each plot having a separate use."
No surprise that it's EQTEC's new partner, Anaergia supplying the waste processing and anaerobic digestion technology

While we wait.....
Back by popular demand.....another planning committee meeting....
This time it's the Calaveras County Planning Commission in California, discussing the 3MWe Wilseyville plant, on 10th November 2021
(SPOILER ALERT: they unanimously vote to approve it!)
A lot of it is as you'd expect, but Greg Stangl (Phoenix Energy CEO) is there, in person, answering questions from the commission. Also Steve Wilensky (from CHIPS, the community group driving the project) discusses the project.
Several interesting points made by Greg about North Fork,
They are installing a sauna at North Fork to make use of some of the waste heat!
North Fork are already being paid to receive trees.
North Fork expected to be online mid-2022.

If you read the RNS....
"The Parties, excluding the Company, have jointly committed to and have now paid an aggregate €2.1m for an 80% equity interest, with the Company holding the remaining 20% equity interest in the SPV for a capital contribution of €482,000"
