Vanilla, there are many patents taken out on things that don't exist or are physically impossible.
Here are some examples:
US Patent 8,636,546 (2014) — Claimed an electromagnetic generator that produces more power than it consumes. Violates conservation of energy.
US Patent 6,362,718 (2002) — A “motionless electromagnetic generator” claimed to produce free energy. It violated basic thermodynamics but was still granted.
US Patent 10,314,382 (2019) — "Craft using an inertial mass reduction device," sometimes called the "UFO patent." It suggests manipulating spacetime for faster-than-light travel, but no evidence it can work.
