Something seems to be going on?
Nicely today. Must be the IC article.
Further to my post below, I note that the venture capital shareholders (Gulf Capital) are unable to trade their shares for 180 days after the floatation. By that time, the company will have announced a dividend so there will be plenty of interest to soak up any shares that come on the market.
Article here mentions IKA http://www.investorschronicle.co.uk/2014/05/15/shares/news-and-analysis/material-profit-KNcoE3KpKV7Kc0CcyoKMBM/article.html
If anyone is thinking of investing here then read the floatation document first. It tells you everything you could want to know about the company, it's financials, dividend policy, management, strategy and the industrial sector. It's really good stuff and massively bullish IMHO. This will really fly once the market wakes up to its potential. http://img829.imageshack.us/img829/2089/cr5.pdf
I am in, yes. My only slight concern is that the venture guys still hold a lot of shares and have declared that they intend to sell them in slow time (see floatation document). I wonder if this may depress the sp somewhat. That said, it should become quite a cash cow with a sound prospect for a good dividend which should attract the big boys. The key factors, IMO, are the utilisation rate of vessels (currently very good with a long order book and young ships), and the introduction of new-build ships to drive growth (currently on target).
Hi JD. Management seems ok. Most of the bod have been there for quite a few years and during a period when the company was owned by private equity. I think the venture capital guys would have soon evicted anyone who was incompetent.
Well I'm in for a few quid. Let's hope the business acumen of the men in white coats is as good as their science. They need to show that they can convert their scientific endeavours into cash and profits. Could also do with something to liven up the market in IKA shares as it seems a bit quiet ATM with only a few trades. GLA, and thanks to Riddler for putting me on to these.
I should add it is not clear whether these other companies have patents filed or whether their technology is as good as ilika's but you can be sure they will be working on it. I expect it will be a question of who is first to wheel out an industry standard. VHS or BetaMax! Ilika's partnership with a major companyToyota is encouraging, however.
Ilika are not alone in developing solid stae batteries. Here's some US competition. http://www.colorado.edu/news/releases/2013/09/18/solid-state-battery-developed-cu-boulder-could-double-range-electric-cars
Their there, sorry.
Thanks very much for the info. Have their been any broker forecast earnings yet?
These look a good prospect. How would the business model work for the batteries? Presumably ilika wouldn't do the manufacturing but license the product to partners? Although the potential number of units could be huge, what are the margins like for that kind of licensing activity? Also, is it likely they will be needing more cash soon? Sorry for all the questions. Would appreciate your thoughts. Thanks, Robby.
Very quiet here but I have bought a few of these this morning. Looks like a good solid growth prospect that has been somewhat overlooked by the market. Trading update soon. I also note that top small company fund manager, Miton, is a significant investor.
