The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring Jeremy Skillington, CEO of Poolbeg Pharma has just been released. Listen here.
I and my parishioners have held these shares for a few years now and their performance has been very disappointing to say the least. However we have been watching the share movements around 4pm every day for the last few weeks. There has been some sizeable buying suggesting that someone is building up a stake. Who would want to buy them, we don't know. Hoever the acquisitions of these various brands of beer have made them more attractive. every blessing rev shep
Years ago when IPO's were the rage, most companies sold shares in a flotation to raise the capital to expand. Today most raise capital to repay debt. Sage, IMO, fell into the latter category. The float price was too high. If you examine the balance sheet, it is stuffed with intangibles and goodwill. There are no tangible assets,IMO. I think that shareholders are in for a bumpy ride but GLA. every blessing Rev Shep
Have I and my fellow parishioners read this wrong? Have they just raised fresh capital just to pay off the quarterly interest payments on the euro loan? If so this will happen every quarter? If this is the case this share is dead in the water. What happened to the proceeds from the sale of the large diamond that they found some time ago? I think the BOD have to face a lot of searching questions. Every blessing Revshep
What happened to this very large diamond that they found? Has it been sold and for what price? This is another typical AIM shaft (pardon the pun). The holdings that myself and parishioners in which we are doing particularly badly are, surprise surprise, all AIM companies.IMHO AIM should be banned!! every blessing Rev Shep
This share is potentially cheap, trading on a PE ratio of about 3. Why is the share languishing? Ever since Mr Fox took over the shares have been a disaster. IMO he should g,o as under him HMV went to the wall. I think that the BOD have lost the plot. They stated that advertising from newsprint was falli g and that digital was the way forward, then promptly launched a new newspaper that did not last very long. Surprise surprise. I and my parishioners are losing patience. What are other shareholders' views?
I also share others' views in as much as MS will drop below 3. Is that a good buying opportunity? Without a massive turnaround in fortunes I will just sit back and take the yield. Will Philip Green be enticed back with his 4 bid? They certainly, IMV, look vulnerable at the moment. every blessing rev shep
Was this very valuable diamond just auctioned the one that Firestone found? every blessing rev shep
Couple of large sales today, which are slightly worrying. It is possible that DEBS may get a bid, but IMO it will not be Ashley. He has already got rid of just under 1/2 of his outlets in DEB's stores. The share price IMO will not go anywhere without a bid, but may well be worth tucking away for their yield. every blessing rev shep
My wife and I have just returned from a stay in a Marston's Inn. The staff were excellent and according to the manager they are doing a lot better than M & B or Weatherspoons. How true that is I do not know. They offer a 2 for 1 menu in their restaurant. However we found that the food quality reflected that. We eat,for our last night, at a Chef & Brewer. This was a little more expensive but far better quality. I do not know if our "food" experience is the same across the whole chain. If it is, that is worrying. I think that people would prefer to pay a little bit extra for slightly better quality. Several large share buys today. If anyone wants them I think that MARS is cheap. every blessing Rev Shep
As Ashley is selling Newcastle to raise funds, is he contemplating a bid for DEBS. Every blessing Rev Shep
Another large buy of 320K late in the afternoon. every blessing revshep
Another large buy of 299k late today. Seems to be following a pattern. every blessing revshep
I have not held my Debs long, and have recently topped up. Interestingly there have been 3 large buys late in the day for the last 3 days. Two of over 120k and one of 320k today. Is someone building up a stake? Could it be Ashley? However not sure how Debs would fit into Sports Direct. Any one any views. Every blessing Revshep
The 48995 is not a SELL but a BUY. I have just bought some more to top up. An exit price will of 20p will be very acceptable to both myself and my parishioners. Every blessing Rev Shep
Both myself and my parishioners have just sold our holding. We feel that although there are good prospects of increased dividends, the shares are looking dear on fundamentals. I am afraid that we still use the good old yardstick of PE ratios. Brokers are forecasting EPS of about 7.5 for this year and next. This puts VOD on a whoppingPE ratio of nearly 30. Expensive for what they have achieved over the last few years IOO. every blessing rev shep
After the results I and my parishioners bought some more when they fell over 10p. It was galling to see that they fell another 10p yesterday. We again filled our boots. if the economy bites, then we feel that the lower end of the food spending market will benefit. Companies such as M & B and Marston.s should benefit, although we know that there is pressure on margins and wages. We are wondering how long JP McManus, Magnier etc will sit on their investment. At the moment M & B would fit nicely into another large brewery chain and the asset backing is neatly £4 per share. every blessing rev shep
Interesting article in the Times this morning, saying that there seems to be a lack of identifiable sources of oil. This could in the not too distant future result in a shortage and rise in world oil prices. This could augur well for TOM as we have an identifiable source. All we need is a cost efficient way of extracting it. I and my parishioners have held shares in TOM for a number of years. Perhaps we may see our investment come to a satisfactory and profitable conclusion? every blessing Rev Shep
Both myself and my parishioners have held this share for some time. I managed to sell my ordinary holding some time ago, but still retain some in my ISA. I am afraid that it has always been "jam tomorrow". How long does a company let a potential customer trial something without saying: "come on matey you have had long enough, are you going to buy or not". IMO we have a case of weak management who are just happy to tick the company along with very little ambition etc. I do hope that they can prove me wrong. I think that both ourselves and other investors are running out of patience. every blessing rev shep
My parishioners and myself own these shares and are today slightly puzzled. In our opinion, we do not have very much faith in MR Fox (ex HMV), but find that he has delivered a cracking set of results. The shares have a good yield and a low PE Ration of about 3, yet the market sent the shares down by just under 10p. Can anyone explain this "logic". In our view the shares are a definite buy, despite all of the problems associated with the phone hacking scandal, for which ample provision has been made in the accounts. Come on market, wake up to a cheap share. every blessing Rev Shep
