It's not going to be suitable for all activities. 'Bog standard' LFTs will still be the main way of testing in the majority of situations.

The Bloviating Arse in No 10 is due to do a presser at 5.00 p.m. I think he'll mumble some bo110ck5 about being careful about the India variant and the need for increased testing, but still push ahead with the relaxation of restrictions on Monday...

I didn't say there wasn't a late night tweet. I said only a fool (in as many words) would think that a single tweet was going to affect the share price in this way.

But you have just made it up.

No sensible, grown up, experienced investor would think the fall in the share price is based on a single tweet - which was in itself addressing stupid comments from investors who had misunderstood information that had been published in line with the government's transparency requirements.

If you sincerely think that, then perhaps you should stick to National Lottery scratchcards...

You don't have fines in NDAs. NDAs are civil procedures enforceable through a range of options - but not fines.

The delays in the Avacta test were nothing to do with government. It was Avacta over-promising and under-delivering. Lots of puff RNS that added little.

What I like about both ODX and ABDX is that they don't do that.

Surprised this news has not hit national headlines. Clearly Lidl have taken a supply of the cheap/inaccurate tests, or have hmg off-loaded these through the back door. Not going to look good on Boris if a retailer such as Lidl is leading the way on LFTs. His message will be seen as 'after the event' so I will expect the RNS now sooner rather than later. Someone going to steal his thunder."

That's Ireland. It would currently be illegal for Lidl to sell these tests in the UK.

They're basically now ready for the Technical validation stage.

I think Whitehall read the government the riot act (particularly after they lost the recent court cases) and took a strict line on the pre-election period (stricter than may have been necessary).

I don't think we'll get a single 'sovereign test' as such. We'll get a group of tests. The reference to 'sovereignty' was initially in relation to the UK having/developing its research, development and manufacturing capacity so that it didn't have to rely on imports - not to having a single government endorsed test.

I think we'll get various bits of news over the coming weeks... I'm ultimately relaxed as, whatever happens, ODX will manufacture and sell millions of tests.

I've heard some really daft comments in recent days and week about the pandemic being over, because of the relative success of the vaccination programme in the UK. That's such a UK-centric and ignorant view - but unfortunately it is also the sub-text of many bits of government messaging. Until the whole world is vaccinated - and testing regularly - this pandemic will remain a real risk (both direct and indirect) to the whole world, irrespective of vaccination status.

I'm making slow cooked beef and mushrooms in milk stout* for dinner - and the house is filled with the most fabulous smell. It's making me soooooooooooooo hungry.
