The latest Investing Matters Podcast episode featuring financial educator and author Jared Dillian has been released. Listen here.
And Altona Diagnostics is a company HQed in Germany...
At least it's closer to the UK than China.
"I am sure I will be corrected if I am wrong but as I understand it, even though the DHSC contract may have lapsed HMG are still able to come back and rely on it. "
No. Once a contract is lapsed/expired/voided it is lapsed/expired/voided. The government can't come back and 'reactivate' the contract. Even if ODX agreed to a request to do so, it would be open to legal challenge.
The proper course of action would be for the government to issue a new Contract.
The government did announce they were planning to phase out free tests (except for those used for surveillance purposes). It's a stupid idea to proceed with that plan in the middle of a wave of a new variant...
I'm on leave this week. I'm going to be volunteering to support the vaccination roll-out locally (I probably won't be doing the jabbing, although I am trained to do it). I'd encourage anyone else with some time on their hands to think of doing the same.
Watch this from about 35 minutes in. A good primer on trying to deal with with Whitehall and the government…

(Nicked from BigJock on Twitter)
"Indeed, it was confirmed to me by the PR that DHSC equipment was covered by Omega's insurance."
Which was a requirement of the Contract (see Schedule 35) and a standard clause in these sort of Contracts...
RNS about JV with Volz.
I wouldn't think about retiring just yet, given the last agreement with Volz didn't really get anywhere. But any increase in interest is welcome.
"If Colin was a football manager he would have been gone long ago"
That's part of the problem... people who can't see the difference between a football manager and the CEO of a biotech company dealing with a corrupt and incompetent administration in a pandemic.
"They have to agree to do this. I know from personal experience that you can send as many letters as you want but they have to acknowledge and agree otherwise it is your cost and if you dispose of them you are liable. It is an ass law and one I got caught with when I took the person to court."
Actually, I was wrong - it's not 14 days but, under section 5.1 of Schedule 35 of the DHSC Contract with ODX, it's 1 month's notice.
"REGULATORUK.
No need to be a smart arse."
You tried to be a smartarse and got caught out as you hadn't bothered to read the back posts...
The Peter Stefanovic video has had almost 50 million views and his been played on major news channels across the world...
..except the BBC (whose Political Editor, Laura Kuenssberg, just happens to be a close friend of Boris Johnson).
"RegulatorUk.. Inspire us all with your inside knowledge of how govt contracts and procurement work and explain to us lesser mortals why you believe ODX should not just dump HMG equipment at the local tip?"
Is reading comprehension not your strong point?
"What's more, if I were Colin, I'd be informing DHSC it had 14 days in which to remove its equipment from ODX premises, failing which it would be disposed of in whatever manner ODX saw fit."
(as per my post at 09.44 this morning)
"Are these emails automatic? Just a thought maybe this was just an automated email once they confirmed contract time lapsed and no renewal?"
No.
You are correct Peterpaz...
Most of those on here commenting on Colin/ODXs interactions with DHSC around this Contract have no understanding of dealing with government departments or the basic principles of procurement - or the powers of HMG under the Coronavirus Act 2020 and the Civil Contingencies Act 2004.
Throw into the mix the shameless trading manipulators of the TWatcher crew...
"Wow, so Colin 'assumed' he could use the prepayment funds to upgrade omegas facilities. Why didn't he ask them?! "
Coin didn't 'assume' anything. That's specifically what the prepayments were for. Why are you posting lies?
"From a legal perspective they won't need to pay it."
Absolutely! What's more, if I were Colin, I'd be informing DHSC it had 14 days in which to remove its equipment from ODX premises, failing which it would be disposed of in whatever manner ODX saw fit.
It's Thursday, so the CTDA approved list may get an update (usually happens on a Thursday and/or Friday).

"I STILL FEEL THIS WILL COME GOOD... If any one look at GDR board only month or so ... that board was exactly like this... ALL this needs is good RNS and watch price move and sentiment change..."
Yep. People need to remember that ODX is about more than Covid. It's a share for long term investors rather than 10% traders...
I think people don't understand what CE marking actually means in today's world - particularly in relation to the UK market.
I do hope that Goonerboy's burger van yields sufficient income for him to afford some good lawyers, with such a defamatory post...
Unfortunately, a number of people on here are throwing around serious accusation, based purely on their own flawed and partial understandings and recollections of what has gone on.
If Colin were a litigious fellow* he could could have a field day...
*I'm sure he's not and that he will treat those wild claims with the calm disdain they deserve.
