Still undecided.
News on US/China deal is bound to be positive for Glenda which makes me wonder whether I should keep hold over the weekend.
Like you I might put in some ambitious sell limit orders.

This is a difficult one.
Bought at average 289.8 over last 2 days and now indicating around 295. Normally I would jump in and take the profit.
But something tells me this could get better.
Dilemma.....

Ifonly1, we can only invest with what we've got, big or small. Whatever the amount, it tends to have the same importance to the investor. Don't consider your 5000 shares as small fry as they're are not. Sure, there are people on here playing with bigger amounts (like Ken or myself) but it little difference as we all strive to make a decent turn on whatever we have to invest. Good luck.
I know you've got a decent holding in GVC and this is one I'm looking at too although I've been pretty unsuccessful with it of late. I keep getting my timing wrong with GVC!
Let's hope freaky Friday is a good freaky and not a bad one!

Ken, if it does rise tomorrow, I will be very happy indeed. Built up a decent holding so I only need a modest rise to cash out a decent turn. I grabbed everything I could in the first 20 minutes today but all small transactions as MMs would not do any bigger deal sizes. Looking forward to the morning!

I'm no fan of shorting but it is another way of investing. I rarely short but I understand why people do.
I'm more intrigued by the reasoning for shorting GLEN given where the SP is. But shorts have to be closed and that is when you want to be long. If only we knew when the shorts are forced to close!

Thanks NK. But whatever the reason it created a great first 30 minutes of buying opportunity. I managed to put through 18 deals before it rose to 289+

I had to pick up some more in the 287s and 288s this morning. Not quite sure why is fell st the close yesterday but this seems a great opportunity.

I'm like you re amount of profit. I usually look for 2-3% so for Glen I look for 7-10p rise.
Got myself a decent holding today and would like to make £5-10k if it can give us this type of rise.
The elusive 300p may not happen just yet but it cant be too far off.

Well i just couldn't resist. Once it went sub 290 I had to buy back in. Building up a stake again.

It is difficult as I love to gamble, whoops, I mean invest. So cash sitting on the side gives me itchy fingers.
But the other side of the coin is that I will have zero stress or concerns about the markets whilst in cash.
Given I've had such a great 10 months and I intend to resign my job at end of Feb to retire, the safety aspect took over.
Let's see how long it actually lasts though!! ;-)

I chose the cautious approach today which is most unlike me. But the aftermath of tonight's vote and the ongoing US shutdown makes me very, very nervous. I just sold every last holding of every stock in every SIPP, ISA and share account that we have. I am now 100% in cash.
This may prove to be a terrible call but I think there will be great buying opportunities over the next 3/4 weeks whilst they try to sort out the mess that is called Brexit.

Managed to sell 25000 at a decent price but it is now sub 295 so will wait now. Not sure where markets are going today.

Wow, I was not expecting this rise today. I took a reasonably big position yesterday and averaged around 2.922 but I thought I was premature. I expected a modest fall today.
Let's hope the rise holds. Wow!!

I've taken the exact same stance. I've stopped for the day and will wait to see where the markets are heading before doing anything more.

Ken, really difficult to call. Will they fall before rising again? I just can't decide. Copper falling, Brexit & Trump would normally push it lower but things like Coal prices & the US/China deal are providing upward momentum. I want to build a big stake but don't know whether to wait for sub 290s but fear I could miss an unexpected rise. decisions, decisions......
