Phil Again, 100% agree, I suspect it's the new SEE way, under promise and over achieve. SEE is the market leader, or only one in their market. Why would we even try to compete in a market where cost rather than quality is the main criteria? SEE seem to be trying to cover their tracks. Again, Semicast needs revisiting!

S2020 100% in agreement, so please SEE when can we expect the RNS'? Which would only confirm what's been said already!

S2020 I was wondering about that. How does that square with a minimum contract value for all six RFQ's of A$140 million? Is it a play on words to a very large extent?

Fair points. The Fleet debacle dented/destroyed people's trust in SEE which is probably one of the reasons Jack was brought in, to bring back a bit of trust. Obviously, that's a big job in its' own right. I don't think you'd get many disagreeing with you that both Fleet and Rail are nothing less than a big disappointment and that (barring the data) a Caterpillar-type deal would have been the preferred way forward. Whether Fleet reaches its' revised targets is open to debate but hopefully Jack will have done his best that SEE has not over promised and that supply issues are now resolved.
However, Auto was always going to be the division that was going to realise the potential in the company and where Fleet was over promised, Auto seems to do exactly the opposite (to the dismay of some) and in direct contradiction to SEYE's methods.
SEE has said in the trading update that 6 OEM's are in discussion and that a majority of the decisions (4+?) are expected before end June. As Semicast has stated the market has fragmented/segmented into high performance (SEE 7 Nvidia) and lower performance (the rest). Semicast also goes onto state Nvidia's offering has power issues and is 'DoA' and other than Volvo is unlikely to win any other OEM's. If Semicast is correct, SEE has no direct competition in it's segment (unlike the lowqer performance segment) and is therefore likely to be in an uneviable position of being in a bidding process of one Tier 2!
Therefore, of the (up to) 6 expected to end of June, how many would you expect to win?
SEYE and the rest of the 'lower end' Tier 2's can fight over the rest!

And the reason SEYE have had a steady stream of news and are now apparently funded to profitability (maybe) (which actually is not the case, just more news on Auto than SEE who have had zilch since Byton (together with the Fleet problems and BdMS /Aviation news) is exactly what Semicast stated. But, again, the traditionally conservative SEE has stated a steady stream of news is expected in the next 4 months and 22 days which (together with news from the other other divisions and potentially funding issues sorted) I doubt SEYE will better from a news point of view.
So perhaps now is the time to sell shares in SEYE and buy back into SEE?))))

Perhaps some people should read the latest trading update as well. The usually very conservative SEE stated it was in the end stages of negotiations with 5/6 OEM's and we would know the result of these negotiations before end June. Somehow I don't think we're in competition with SEYE (see Semicast) so draw your own conclusions. Also why do people assume SEE will have a placing, this is only one of a number of options which if people did some research would realise. It is even possible further funding is not required (BdMS) but even if it is, it is not a nailed on certainty a placing will take place, look at recent board appointments. As far as I'm aware Semicast is a professional who has a lot deeper knowledge of this market, not specifically about SEE, and for someone to suggest otherwise, ain't a wise move.

Perhaps some people might wish to read Semicasts latest offering again. Perhaps his balanced and professional view might help some - @semicast_res Better language to describe DMS market segmentation: 1. As Semicast would say the market appears to have fractured roughly between high performance (ie it works at motorway speeds) and lower performance (ie that offered by Smart Eye). So, as both SEE & SEYE have limited resources and are aware of each others strengths and weaknesses, are likely to not be in competition for all but very rare circumstances. And if you get away from the two main players (excepting Nvidia who appear to have similar performance problems as Smart Eye) who else is there? Hence my assumption, I don't think SEE will get any less than 5 of the 6 currently under discussion as I can't think of anyone who could win them if you accept the market is fractured and that SEE and SEYE have almost accidentally created their own niche markets within the nascent DMS market. So, I don't think my assumption of 5/6 wins from the current RFQ's is extreme. Even less than that could lead to a bid as Maps pointed. Obviously my assumption relies on the fact that the market has fractured as per Semicasts tweet. Let's hope for all of us he's right!

And Caterpillar /Rail?

Talking of Earthport, Safesocks tipped eServ Global (ESG) back in November which is in the same space as Earthport. Slightly up since he tipped them and may be worth investigation!

Assuming 5 or 6 positive OEM RNS in the first half of this year and with momentum firmly behind SEE, what would a low ball bid be? Any low ball bid would likely be met by other interested parties joining the discussions. I don't think it will be long before the market starts to see the proper value of SEE, a raft of positive RNS would help, that's for sure!

Viktor's caution is well founded, you only have to look at what happened with Autoliv (Veoneer). The same may well have happened with Aptiv. Regardless, SEYE will win contracts from those who don't require high performance and the rest, well SEYE's investment in obtaining an automotive grade chip says it all. Just like SEE may choose not to engage in all RFQ's, it surely makes sense that SEYE also will choose not to take part in all RFQ's. Both companies, after all, have limited resources.

Maybe SEYE is concentrating on the smaller or non-US, EU, Japanese OEM's? After all, SEYE will have limited resources (even more so) than SEE and after BMW maybe decided it would go for Korean OEM's and the like?
