Yes. Which is why when people say the SP is the same as it was 4 or 5 years ago, that's actually better than it sounds considering Solg has spent millions, issued a lot of shares, earned nothing and is in that stage of the curve. IMHO.

Well since the day of the AGM when the 3 largest shareholders attempted to oust the CEO and ultimately seem to have been successful, the share price is now down almost 18%, and is over 20% down from its Dec high.

Half the time I'm hearing that the market doesn't agree with NM's plans as evidenced by the share price, but looking at the price today you could infer the market likes NM leaving even less?

When comparing Solg to companies like GGP we need to remember the stage where Solg are compared to GGP who are in the initial frenzy stage... or should I say, were, seeing as they are now down almost 30% off the peak.

Hello all, first post here, just invested a bit at 1.2p... Was looking at this end of last year and should have taken the plunge at 0.5p! Still, looks promising for all the reasons Key2 just said.

Speaking of various predatory animals, the other day I came across a Reuters article from 2018 when BHP first bought into Solg. There was a very telling quote from an analyst:

“It’s a pretty attractive asset. It’s early stage but the geology looks prospective,” said a Melbourne-based analyst for a fund manager, who declined to be named due to company policy.

“This basically means that Newcrest isn’t going to have it all to themselves. I think if I was Newcrest or SolGold management, I would be a bit nervous about BHP being in there.”

NM tried to keep BHP onside with their follow up placings, the standstill agreement etc and it was all chummy chummy for a couple of years. But the gloves are off now and I wonder how nervous the remaining management are feeling about their largest shareholder?

I have a feeling that if something big is going to happen here, it will just happen regardless of the various background events going on. We always seem to be waiting to get something out of the way these days... the end of the CGP offer, the AGM, the PFS, the Election... next up it'll be the new CEO starting, the assays from TA, the financing package, the DFS, the Olympics, the World Cup, the Mars landing...

As people pointed out many times, Alpala has a 55 year expected mine life. Elections come around every few years and there will always be corporate business to attend to. If someone wants to get this mine built then they have to pull the trigger at some point.

The volume on this stock is not very high and over the last week several PIs with large holdings have announced they've sold some or all of their shares. I'm sure plenty more have too without posting publicly about it. So I'm not surprised that the SP is where it is. In the absence of any news it was bouncing up and down in a channel anyway and it feels to me that with a bit of relatively heavy PI selling over the last week it's just pushed it down a bit harder.

For all the talk of this being held down, shenanigans by MMs etc etc, I think the reality is just PIs with decent-sized holdings offloading.

I have a question about the re-design for Alpala.

The RNS about the delay to PFS says "Assessment of the new geotechnical information has necessitated a redesign of certain underground infrastructure to a location outside of the cave footprint, changes to the mine design and development, and mining production schedules."

I think there has been an assumption that this reference to the underground infrastructure means moving it to the surface, possibly so it can be shared with another site like TA. Is this actually a correct assumption?

I was under the impression that there are various parts of a block cave mine that are not directly within the block cave itself anyway. Tunnels, crushers, processing machinery, access and power shafts, the bits that get stuff back up to the surface etc. Does this reference to moving "outside of the cave footprint" actually imply moving to surface, or does it just mean moving infrastructure around underground?

A bit of patience is required now. Maybe for a few days, maybe for a few weeks, maybe for a few months. But just hold the line. Even if you have been here 10 years, some sort of outcome is close now.

Generally I think it's a good thing to hear negative views as well as positive. Part of the process of constantly assessing if you are still happy with your investment decision, and not just listening to your own echo chamber. I think a large part of the reason some posters were gloating on the GGP board yesterday was not because they want their fellow investors to lose money. It was because for months anyone who dared to suggest that the GGP share price could go down was ruthlessly attacked on that board, accused of malicious de-ramping, and in some cases warned or banned by admin. In fact more harm was probably done by the devout followers who posted daily about how the share could only ever go up and convinced newer investors to put their money in at 35p and up...

However, all that being said I do find it unlikely that Crux investor could manage to uncover the fact that Alpala actually has a negative NPV and may not be viable when the external consultants who prepared the PEA, BHP, NCM, FNV and various analysts all seem to have come to the opposite conclusion. The industry analysts aren't just plucking numbers from the ether, they create their own extremely detailed models as well and there are some big names covering Solg now in JPM and BofA.

I had a quick look at the GGP board a few days ago, there was some discussion going on from a guy who had transferred all his company pensions into a SIPP and was something like 80% in GGP, if I remember correctly. What a massive red flag.

Pure gambling having all your money tied up in a single stock like that, even more dangerous when it's your pension pot.

And to think Miagi had that Massive Ray bloke all over him for daring to suggest GGP was overvalued and could drop back if Scally was a duster...

Hi Smickster - indeed, I was just referring to my sense of the sentiment on this board. My takeaway from reading all the posts was that the general feeling (with notable exceptions) last summer was that he was holding all the cards, and now (again, with exceptions) seems to be that he has come a cropper. As I said, interesting to see what financing Solg can arrange, because I think that dictates whether NM's plan has come to fruition after all or been squashed...

As you say, for all the talk of annoying the largest shareholders, if you count his direct and indirect holdings through the other companies he controls, Mather himself is Solg's largest shareholder isn't he.
