Major European stock markets were down in the premarket trade on Friday as the earnings season slowed down. A new batch of data is coming up, including reports on the United Kingdom's GDP growth for the second quarter, industrial production, and trade balance. Analysts predict the British economy will just barely avoid a recession, with little to no growth compared to the previous quarter.
The DAX lost 0.39% at 8:04 am CET, the FTSE 100 was down by 0.15%, the CAC 400 decreased by 0.28%, and the EU STOXX 50 dropped 0.49%.
The euro traded 0.10% higher compared to the dollar and went for 1.09911 at 8:05 am CET, while the pound traded 0.22% higher against the dollar, selling for 1.27058.
