Retail sales volumes in the United Kingdom observed a monthly decline of 0.4% in November, in contrast with a revised rise of 0.9% recorded in November and a projected increase of 0.3%, the Office for National Statistics (ONS) announced in its report published on Friday.
On an annual basis, the figure decreased by 5.9%. more than analysts predicted. Compared to the numbers recorded in February 2020, before the start of the COVID-19 pandemic, it dropped by 0.7%.
Month-on-month, non-store retailing went down by 2.8%. Non-food store sales dipped by 0.6%. On the other hand, food store sales grew by 0.9%. Meanwhile, automotive fuel sales volumes declined by 1.7%.
