Suggest you read Marathons Q2 report, 50% extra production and 100% price uplift since 2016 lows - the exact time when EME called this 'a mature asset' and SOLD.

I think you find sugarloaf is worth significantly more at current prices vs early 2016, which was the bottom of the market.
The 'real reason' given for selling was largely POO related - as per the article.
Based on Marathon valuation EME likely left $200m minimum on the table - imv.
