The sp had been rising prior to the buyback announcement, closed at 51.7 on 24th Feb. Down Hill since then...

It happens frequently albeit I only watch lloy. I wonder if its something to do with markets opening or closing in other time zones.......?

Does anyone know why the sp goes into a tailspin more often than not, when it gets to 10:00 to 10:30 am our time?

Thanks I2, you give plenty of good reasons for a lower sp, it all just seems a bit coincidental to me with the fall at the start of the buyback. I suspect in another month or two, when the buyback is finished, unless it gets extended, we might see the sp rise back to and above the 50p mark? That will look even more suspicious to me....

Why is the sp falling? When a new buyer of such significant volume enters the market, you would expect the sp to rise, not fall.... Makes me think this is all orchestrated, wheels within wheels and all that... not that I'm complaining, I'm a shareholder....

Can you remind us what the numbers were after 92 days in the previous buy back please?

HD10 - So by the end of 2009 it had 63.8bn shares in issue. Over 10x as much as before.

You are right HD10, HBos/Labour Govt certainly cost shareholders at the time very, very dear...

The shares in issue are currently 10 times what they were back then but the SP now is 1/10th back then. On that basis lloy current value is the same on paper as it was back then but it's a much better business now and is capable of being even better without political interference and when those 28b or so shares have been bought back then watch the sp motor....

It was about 70b shares. Lloy was purposely flooded with shares at that time, HMG owned about 40% or 28b shares in return for the £20b or so they put into lloy. Problem for lloy shareholders was that £20b capital injection was later paid out as ppi to the thieving b'stards who reckoned they were misslold ppi - HA Ha Ha.... Result was 28b extra shares but not a penny piece in capital. The problem with lloy sp won't be solved until thosec28b sharescare bought back, which will take a few years yet....

Asp1 - A very basic comparison that does not include divi yield, IMO those still suggesting Lloy is 'the worst share ever' or a 'dire share' seriously need to examine their concept of investing.

LLOY certainly isn't the worst share ever but it is certainly a dire share. Time you revised your conclusion me thinks.....

Hi again suff. Actually the sp has increased from 45.19 on 6/4/22 to 52.62 on 28/2/23. But the fishy bit is why has it has fallen after the buy back was announced - 46.85 a few days ago, 48.15 cop today. Its almost as though the market is conspiring with lloy to drive the sp down to allow lloy to buy back at lower prices?

Does anyone think there is something fishy about how the lloy sp has reacted to the share buybacks? I mean, if a new buyer entered the market, buying let's say 20 to 30 million shares every day on average, don't you think the sp should rise? And to add to this fishy smell there seems to be no shortage of sellers despite us being told the sp is cheap as chips?? All very strange!
