CharlesR...yes, that is what top-slicing is. I frequently will sell a 50% stake when a share is on a high. That way, you lock in some profit (if the price subsequently falls), or you will continue to benefit from any further rise.

Well, nothing goes up in a straight line. I guess what you do now depends on your investing strategy: hold, top-slice, or take profits. I think 1000 will be a psychological resistance point, on the basis that investors tend to put trades through in round numbers, and this will be next big round number. If it comfortably breaks 1000, who knows what the next leg up will look like.

Let me add my well-dones.....I was predicting 1000 this time last week, based upon the chart (check my posts) after it bounced off 630 support. I wish all shares behaved in such a predictable way - we'd all be rich!

Surely, they're just going to buy in at this level?

There is, simply put, a problem with the whole market for PIs. Since the start of this year, it has become almost impossible to make any money (particularly with AIM stocks). Three particular trends are noticeable:
1. Prices do not rise in response to positive RNSs; or
2. The sp spikes and then drops away rapidly;
3. Prices consistently drift down after RNSs to below pre-RNS levels, so instead of a gradual uptrend in share prices, prices get lower and lower.
With these features happening consistently and increasingly, it destroys confidence and puts people off the market. I don't know what's driving this change, but some are speculating that MMs are increasingly moving away from human beings doing the trading to using AI and bots. Whatever the cause, it's eroding the fun, enjoyment (and rewards) from private investing.

MMs walking it down to gather shares. Looking at those automated trades, looks like stop-losses have been triggered at around 888. Should see a rise into close.

How do you know from the TR1 whether the shares have been bought or sold? Genuine question.
