The only thing going for it is the fertilizer side leading to possibly lower food prices in the future. Have we seen that play a part in any decision for any government in the last 10 years? Not according to our shopping bill. Neither require labour at any great scale after build. Data centers will require a bigger internet backbone and therefore provide benefits to all businesses and people.

Why are people just mentioning the unions? It wasn't just them, it was people within the government, universities and professional bodies. All were going to file legal challenges in the supreme court.

Last thing I want anywhere are AI data centers. They are not good for anyone or anything. Do I have faith in a political class that looks after the least able to feed themselves, no.

As for institutional investors in Atome, many are also involved in on both side with the IDB and IFC been long time promoters of data centers as driving growth and have invested heavily in many projects, 10x compared to Atome.

@skid35 not really. This is not the only show in town and nor is crypto. This project may be univestable but AI is making taking up the additional power and has more money to burn. Countries like Taiwan and companies like HIVE are banging down the door and agreed terms on data centres. Only because a number of investors on the development side want to see this happen doesn't mean anything. They also do not have the final say. The power that Paraguay produces could be sold ten times for data centres. The cost is unlikely to make fertilizer viable. The government has been looking at this for a few months now and they want more value from the power rather than just giving it to Brazil. The prospect of AI also means the telecoms network will get better for the country.

In some countries the government often puts the willies up the market, watches the shares fall and buys up cheap. Then announces a change of heart and the shares rise. Mention no names. Obviously more at play here but then everyone could be on the make.

All lower. You think criticism of bogus analyst bs papers is carping. It's not a dig at the value it is a dig at the fake research that is shared. You decided to share the paper with the best outlook, one that is written by the company.

That's a different thing. And if that came from an independent analyst it would carry more weight. This is essentially a blog post by the company

They would say that wouldn't they. These papers are really badly put together too, vaguely making out there is another step for FID. The decisions have been made and all it is getting is a rubber stamp.
