Our latest Investing Matters Podcast episode with QuotedData's Edward Marten has just been released. Listen here.
SG may well just sit on their 17/18% , let the month run out without making an offer, then top up to sub 30% if the price drifts down over the next 6months.
If the TPG SP improves over that period, well their in the money, if not they can put the pressure on the ii to jump onboard with them & SG get their wish of control without emptying their coffers.
As you say Old-timer, interesting times.
So many different scenarios, which will it be?
Ps, if another interested party/parties pitch in, well!
Good luck to all LTH's
How much financial input will be required from Amte to contribute to the project?
RNS state's that all member's will contribute towards the costs.
It's not just a case of picking up a government cheque.
I'll be supporting the new CEO, he's barely got his feet under the desk, needs time to prove himself. The rest of the board need to up their game considerably as they have no excuses.SG's eye's bigger than their belly/wallet. A 10% holding does not gift you a place on the board let alone two!I'll be voting against SG in EGM
Absolutely right Taverham
No wonder the financial services sector is so disproportionately large.
It also concentrates wealth in a few well connected hands to the detriment of the wider population.
I personally think this addiction to debt driven growth is much, much to short term, what is wrong with a good, well run company funding it's expansion via it's own profits, might be a bit slower but you would avoid so many debt driven collapses.
But then what would the money boy's/girl's have left to do?

Hi Cuttlefish
As far as I can see, the cost saving is from storage not production. ATM there is no such thing as " low- cost hydrogen production", if there was the world would be much further down the hydrogen adoption road.
Production costs will fall over time as technology improves, but this will take years not weeks.
Don't get me wrong, I'm very much invested in the hydrogen rollout, it's critical for our children and future generations that we invest now.
ATM these statements are really just asperational.

Hi Gavster-NBC
I agree, foreign takeovers are not my first choice either, but UK management only seem to be able to develop companies to a certain size, then sell them on. ( Is this short-term/ cash in mentally only taught in business school's over here in the UK?)
Very few UK based businesses seem to get to a global scale anymore, which long term is not great for the UK economy.
As for short term investors, some of us here bought into Skyepharma many years ago, which was then bought out by Vectura
Personally would have liked VEC to have stayed independent & grown the company organically, but see comment above about UK management selling out to early.

So following that logic, oil major's should be stopped from investing in solar or wind assets?
Would you rather PM built another cigarette factory or put money into healthcare assets?
I know the situation is not ideal, but these tobacco firms need to diversify & if not now, when?
As for Private Equity taking the moral high ground well, you couldn't make it up!!
Hi Fourprinces
Would you mind fleshing out your previous post, detail is a bit thin on the ground.

Disappointing first month after buying in late June.
Will be holding for the next few years so could view as an opportunity to top-up & bring average down, trouble is most of my others aren't performing much better!!
Had a good run with itm & ika so, some you win , some you loose.
Unfortunately the RNS doesn't say 'are testing' it says ' will be' .
When, is the question I'd like an answer to.
Morning all.
I've been monitoring this share for a while (thanks JohnnieW for pointing them out) & was waiting on some more vallidatory news.
The latest RNS was the type of news I was after, so have now rotated some freecarry funds out of Ilika into these guys.
Was into Ilika at an average of 40p so let's hope for a similar percentage performance from these.
Cheers R
There is scope for a number of different JV's within the Maritime group.
Not a bad position to be in really.
Looking forward to more updates in the near future.
Thanks flotogo
I'm also thinking it's included in Maritime. (If anyone knows differently please speak up).
Seems a bit hasty to sell off 40 odd years of Hydrogen & Carbon Capture tech just as interest in this technology is going mainstream and will be much sort after over the next decade and more.
Certainly hope it's a JV rather than a outright sale.
ITM's JV with Linde did wonders for their SP & put them in the spotlight which is exactly what TPG should be doing imo.
Onwards & upwards.

Morning All
The link says that the work will be undertaken by TPG's GGTC in Portsmouth.
Am I right in thinking this part of TPG Maritime?
If not , which group does it come under.
Just trying to work out what is included in TPG Maritime.
Thanks

Hi TT
I'd rather not have won that game!
Looking back to last year's results we had a Audit update RNS, so I'll be expecting one of those soon.
SEC Newgate, the new Investor & PR agency need to up their game considerably.
If you want a steadily increasing SP you not only have to attract new investors but also retain the one's you already have!
The 2 or 3 yr share charts say it all really.
How long will the larger II's put up with this underperformance is anyone's guess.
I will obviously eat humble pie next week when the results come out showing a healthy profit & TPG Marine sold for a stonking price, quickly followed by a generous offer for the whole company by a large international player!!
Sorry too much B/H sun!
Cheers R
Hi TT
Don't worry to much about the small sales of late, I was beginning to think the same as in it being a strange time to sell ahead of possible positive news.
But I topped up twice today to help my average & both show as sales!
I'm hoping it's quiet due to lack of any news, which gives rise to a drifting SP.
Here's to some positive news!!
Good luck LTH's
Cheers R
Hi TT
Yes I did read that, just thought I'd get my disappointment in first!
Good luck to all lth
Cheers R
Shouldn't have to rely on luck OT, but guessing is all we can do at present.
Communicating with the actual owners of the Company has always come across as a inconvenience to this BoD.
Apologies for the negativity, but a bit of common courtesy from the Company Staff we pay handsomely wouldn't go amiss.
If the results are going to be late, for whatever reason, they will have known weeks ago, why not inform us of the cause or cause's, covid will no doubt be the latest fig-leaf to hide behind.
1st buy trade quite large first thing.
News next week?
Hi Adastra
I agree with most of what you're saying but
what makes you think the II's suddenly want a rapid re-evaluation now? the SP has been going sideways for 4-5 yrs and much the same II's are still here.
