As we are all rambling this evening after a glass of two I'd like to put in a word for a golden Welsh girl called Shirley Bassey - Mrs Quinton and I are having a great evening watching the BBC4 Shirley Bassey evening. What a star! Belting it out over the years. Highly recommended.
In my 26th July post I described my attempt at a MRE estimate. It was remarkably similar to Paddy's. I visualised a very simple 3D model of the resource based on the images on Page 5 of the recent Newcrest Update. My conservative estimate is approx. 8 million ounces of gold. Using the chart in Investor Journey’s ‘GGP Stock Analysis (22 June)’ with an assumed gold price of £1750/oz and an 8m oz reserve I came to the conclusion that a fair SP is 37p (AISC = $912 and includes an allowance for the associated copper value). Assessment ignores unpublished data on Haverion and any value attributed to Scallywag etc so lower end of fair SP.
Only as an indication - if I make the depth of my lower zone 600m rather than 200m that would model down to 1000m below the cover. The answer is 11.5m oz but it's a gross extrapolation so suggest don't put much faith in it.
Timber - I think Newcrest have acknowledged the overall depth of deposit is not proved yet but I just limited myself to the dimensions they gave on Page 5 of the Update. So that's another reason to think my 8m oz is an underestimate.
Hi everyone – first post so be kind. Holder since June 2018. Built up to 1.1m holding at average 2p so very happy with current SP. I’m a keen follower of this board and value the knowledge and enthusiasm shown. Newcrest’s Exploration Update inspired me to carry out my own Maiden Resource Estimate.
I visualised a very simple 3D model of the resource based on the images on Page 5 and the Legend in Fig 2 of the Update. Assumptions are:
• The implied continuity of the deposit to the NW to form a continuous elliptical deposit is true.
• Ore structure is an elliptical shaped elongated doughnut 630m deep which tapers in cross-section top to bottom.
• The core of the doughnut is the sulphide ellipse, 20m thick, which is 550m (SE to NW) by 320m (SW to NE) at the top tapering to 200m by 320m at the bottom.
• Sulphide vertically divided into three zones: upper 230m @ 5g/t, middle 200m @ 4g/t, lower @ 3 g/t.
• Sulphide doughnut is surrounded by an inner Breccia zone (@1g/t) and an outer Breccia zone (@0.5g/t). Each Breccia zone is 2x20=40m total thickness.
• So the overall doughnut thickness is 100m.
• I reduced the volume by a vertical slice 35m wide representing the post mineral dyke.
• Ore density 2.8 t/m3.
On that basis my spreadsheet gives a MRE of 50 million tonnes of ore containing approx. 8 million ounces of gold (overall average 1 g/t).
My feel is that the dimensions and grades assumed are on the conservative side and so this MRE probably lies in the lower end of the range of possible answers. Referring to Investor Journey’s ‘GGP Stock Analysis (22 June)’ with an assumed gold price of £1750/oz and an 8m oz reserve a fair SP is 37p (AISC = $912). His analysis makes an allowance for the associated copper value though I haven’t made any assessment of Cu resource.
This back of fagpacket calculation ignores any further expansions of Haverion currently being investigated by Newcrest and any value attributed to Scallywag etc. On this basis I’m more than happy that the SP has some way to go.
