Clean Food Group Email pt 18 Apr 2025 11:05
I’m pleased to share with you our first quarterly update of the year, which reflects a busy few months as we continue to take critical strides forward as a business. I will provide some more detail on the various functional achievements of the quarter; however I did want to pull out some notable highlights including,
The establishment of our demonstration scale end-to-end supply chain with two commercial partners, capable of delivering meaningful samples of RBD oil on demand
The successful scale up of our more saturated oil process to our demonstration plant at Bevisol
The great profile achieved for Clean Food Group featuring as part of the BBC 1 “Ready Meals – What they mean for you” Documentary presented by BBC Climate Editor, Justin Rowlatt.

As we continue to scale our technology to commercial volumes, our manufacturing team has successfully completed multiple fermentation runs at our demonstration plant at Bevisol, in Herefordshire.
Our focus on establishing a demonstration-scale end-to-end supply chain saw us achieve our best fermentation results so far on our 6,000L retrofitted vessel, followed by the extraction of 10s of kgs of oil at our downstream process partner’s facility. This oil is now being refined in preparation to be sent to a variety of commercial collaborators for trial in finished product applications in Q2.
We also completed fermentation runs utilising a variety of feedstocks, including bread waste and beet molasses, demonstrating the ability of our yeast strain to use a wide variety of different carbon sources as feedstock.
In addition to this, during the quarter we successfully scaled our more saturated oil process to our demonstration plant with a successful fermentation at 300L, a significant milestone in our journey to deliver functionally specific oils and fats for our commercial partners.
Our new dedicated laboratory facility at Bevisol, Ledbury is now fully operational. This lab will be a core part of CFG’s activities, supporting scale-down fermentation investigations, development and ongoing optimisation work related to cell lysis and downstream processing.
Research and Development
Our R&D department at the University of Bath continues to make excellent progress across our innovation workstreams. The team has successfully developed a fat that is solid at room temperature with crystallisation behaviour similar to cocoa butter. These samples have been sent to our commercial partners for testing. This marks a key research milestone for the company and strengthens our position as we move forward into 2025—congratulations to all involved!
