Today's Ukraine-Russia talks come just days after Republican Senator Lindsey Graham said the US Senate will move forward with a bill to impose fresh "bone-breaking" sanctions on Moscow.

The bill would put a 500% tariff on goods from countries still buying Russian gas, oil, uranium and other products.

"I would expect next week that the Senate will start moving the sanctions bill," he said after meeting Ukraine's President Zelensky last Friday.

The bill would need to pass both the House of Representatives and the Senate, and then be signed by President Donald Trump, who has recently shown frustration over Putin's actions in Ukraine.

Graham said the aim is to find bipartisan support "for tools that would help President Trump get Putin to the peace table".

"These sanctions would do that," he added.

Es pinis there will be peace. Ukraine doing the right thing showing Putin there is a lot of fight in the dog yet! Timing of this attack was significant. Of course the "peace talks" won't go smoothly but Putin now very aware that after the next weeks Trumpet is likely to slam Russia with the sanctions they fear most......half the price on their oil and gas. With that Putin will not be able to fund his war machine for much longer. Peace is in sight but perhaps not in next 2 weeks. I have been here donkey's years and will be here to the end.

Ukraine claims to have hit more than 40 Russian warplanes at several military airfields, in what appears to be one of the most audacious drone attacks so far on Russian aviation.

According to a statement from Ukraine's security service, SBU, "enemy strategic bombers are burning en masse in Russia".

The SBU says Ukraine is conducting "a large-scale special operation aimed at destroying enemy bomber aircraft."

Dramatic footage has emerged purportedly showing a drone attack at Belaya airbase in Irkutsk oblast, Siberia, thousands of miles from Ukraine.

Russia's military has not commented on the issue.
