In light of the recent RNS shown below can anybody explain why the share price rose by 25% the day prior to the announcement? Am I missing the point here? "At the request of the company trading on AIM for the under-mentioned securities has been temporarily suspended from 30/11/2010 7:30am pending clarification of the company's financial position"
I believe NFDS have already advised that the results aren’t going to be great; hopefully this being the case the loss forecast may already be factored in? I wouldn't expect much apart from if forecast losses have been over factored we may see a rise?
Thanks for the heads up, I believe the link you refered to is: http://www.proactiveinvestors.co.uk/companies/news/9979/uruguay-mineral-exploration-signs-merger-deal-with-fortune-valley-9979.html

zlee, I have a portfolio of approx 25 companies I think they all lost ground recently. CAL didn’t do too badly, look at the financial sector!! Bad news/figures, losses etc cause traders & public to panic stop losses hit etc. Hold your nerve I can’t see any reason why CAL fell. I believe they’re a good company and will be very profitable once things get back to normal.
http://www.speymilldeutsche.com/news-item?item=268830593024078 Share price bit down, not sure this was deemed as great news?
Thanks for your post & opinion. I felt that RGI would fall soon after their previous results, profit takers and no expected news for the coming future, in fact they dipped soon after as expected but have made that ground and more since. There does seem to be a lot of support for this Company, somewhere not here probably Russia :) Yes I believe Germany were the first to announce that they were out of the recession, although I believe three months of growth is required first? So in theory they will be first to show growth over most sectors. I have a substantial holding with SDIC and expect a build up prior to their news on 15th and then a gradual clime north!
Got into this share on 14/09/09 at 25.50p did my research and bought, I saw a good med/long investment. Purely luck that they rose substantially very soon after. If the news is good I'm topping up first thing (presuming the news is released at 7am?), failing that I'll wait a bit but will defiantly be keeping my investment and then topping up again soon after. Good luck tomorrow all.
Been invested in this share for a number of months, I’ve averaged up a few times and taken profit at times am currently holding out at 20% up. I've done exactly the same with a similar amounts on a Russian development company RGI and am currently 106% up, be interesting to see what your opinion of RGI is?
Mr B has little to no say in the company; VM was purely rebranded into the Virgin brand name and he only a 5% share holder. VM doesn't just offer the home service (cable & TV) they have a huge amounts of business broadband services too, using different technologies, speeds and quality of service, (MPLS, Metro Ethernet, lease line, cable modem, dial up, ADSL etc) not sure on the packages, I'm a techie :) I think as the economy recovers and more business expand and start up, sales will increase. Funny enough on the home front when people cut back on their home finances TV and broadband are the last to go, which is why VM is making money.
VM listed on the LSE today, however still trading in USA, therefore a W-8BEN form will need to be completed. RichB only owns 5% of VM as he sold off 5% after the NTL re-branding. I work for VM as a senior IT Network Analyst working on their 50Mb broadband role out project, which was a huge success and was the envy of most of ISPs in Europe as no DOCSIS3 (50mb cable modem stuff) has ever been delivered in such a record time, scale and cost before. We are currently working on TVIP (http://compnetworking.about.com/od/homenetworkuses/g/bldef_iptv.htm) which is revolutionary. I believe the share price also includes Telewest and Virgin Mobile too. I strongly believe this company will do well, don't forget that most ISPs piggyback over BT, VM and Colt infrastructure, so there is a monopoly there. My only concerns are how much the shares cost. Hope this helpful.
