Anyone know why lloyds, barclays and NWG were all marked down about 0.5% at close, check the daily graph and you will understand

That spike up to £199.35 what happened? its back down straight away

Taking a profit is not a bad thing lucky but I may hold long term £3.50-£4.00 in 5 years
No more PPI and brexit sorted so I don't see why it shouldn't hit my expectations

How has it added value to the share price then? It's back to where it was in the first place, all it has done is stopped it from being higher than it should be, adding no value whats so ever for the long term investor, your user name by the way lol

Yes that is correct but buying back 3.5 billion shares and then adding them back puts you back to where you started. I don't want to sound like a broken record but that's a fact

NWG just did that the other day and Barclays are currently buying back, No move in share price, they are both down in fact.
My opinion is if you can remove atleast 20% of shares then that's when you will see a movement upwards

So would you not agree to do a 1 for 5? Why spend billions to bring the shares in issue down a fraction when you can return that to you and me the share holder

Thats fair but we also need to understand that the more shares that are issued the more suppressed the share price becomes!! More shares will be issued in the next month for staff bonuses, we are looking 30 million plus

As you say there is always one!!

A return of capital does not show how many shares have been issued!! Everyone invested can look up the information to see this

Buybacks started with just over 72 billion shares, we are now back at over 70 billion? I could look and provide you proof but I know this share so I don't need to confirm to myself what I already know.

A share consolidation is needed here 1 for 5 to many shares in issue to do a buyback.
3.5 billion shares may have been bought back, but in the same time they have re-issued 1.5 billion in bonuses and for god knows what reason
