At British Rail, engineering work would be completed at 4 or 5 a.m.

However, this engineering work is sub-contracted out now, probably with far fewer people, that's why you get ridiculously late over-running engineering work.

There's also 25 or 26 train operating companies, and so you have 25 or 26 lots of management, that's why train fares are so expensive.

is a good investment. There's increasing demand from China & USA, for quality single malts. Because they take a long time to mature, 10 and 12 year old malt whiskies, running low on supplies, hence increasing prices.
