As for the fire argument with EVs, it's the thermal runaway that is of concern. These things don't just burn gently they go mad. Not true, Mercedes expected to be 50% electric by 2025 and 100% by 2030 but it's finally dawned on them that people don't want electric cars so they've pivoted. They are investing 22bn Euros in efficient ICE engines to provide a balance for what their customers want.

Porsche recently abandoned its own battery plans.

Whether you like or accept it or not, the EV pipedream is over. You will see token Hybrids, the the small battery range elements of those Hybrids phased out as they realise the new generation of petrol engines is so efficient that carrying batteries around is pointless and a net loss.
