Just a further point to clarify- Wolvesposty stated the 25% increase was from his office only which you had not.
Ispy - what I’m referring to is your original post on Sat at 20.36. Please read your post again ,as there is implication that it is a group prediction- no where on that post do you say it’s one office figures. Please read again and you will see what I mean. Different on later posts that then make it clearer it’s one ( yours) office. That’s why we’re “all over it”.
The point is you are guessing Ispy. Firstly there are 1356 offices ( assuming you’re saying your figures are from your office) so that’s one office out of 1356 . So even assuming you are near your own figures, that is very unlikely to reflect the other 1355. As we know from all businesses ,some outlets perform above average, some below etc etc. That’s why the only reliable guide is the update in Feb. You are entitled to your opinion as everyone is , whether that’s positive or negative ,but it’s not proper to post guesswork figures from one office.
Let’s be clear - no one and I mean no one but the accountants know any figures - the only available figures are up to September 29th 2019 and why I spy is stating guess work figures I do not know. If they are from his/her own office then I think someone will be out of a job. Posting group figures ( that I spy can’t possibly know unless part of the accounting dept) is misleading . Figures after September are not available. End of.
The markets are unpredictable, that’s what makes it exciting. Take super dry today - down 20% shortly after opening and then later in the day almost back to where it was the day before and then ending up just 6.75% down on dreadful results with a possibility of no profit this year. You just can’t make sense of it sometimes- that’s why I hold stocks like RMG that pay a good dividend - capital growth is a mystery to us all but RMG along with other UK stocks are very undervalued and at some point ,that will change - as others state GLS on its own is worth 2.2 billion.
Yep - very odd that you can buy 5% of 1 billion shares and the SP does next to nothing. How do they do it - I reckon they must be some sort of a deal with another institution in which case shouldn’t we see another RNS in the next couple of days ?. Surely can’t have been on the open market as the SP would have gone up - unless of course it’s a bit dodgy - no of course not that doesn’t happen does it ! ( tounge in cheek)
Scamp - I think you’ll find Fruitster is right. You would not normally pay tax on a foreign investment that does not provide an income via dividends ( Amazon don’t pay dividends) so you would only be liable for any capital gains tax above your allowance via HMRC. Fruitster is very clued up and I’m assuming your not a US resident obviously. Markets look jittery on the US/ Iran thing and the whole market is generally down but should be short term unless things get real bad and who knows what will happen then. As I said before , I’m here for the compounding divis and capital gain would be nice but not relevant to me in the short term ie. next 12 months or so. Rico’s objectives will come in ,probably with CWU and RMG compromises - has to , or we’re all left with nothing to post about as far as RMG is - we’ll be on a GLS board.
Good point Redceo ,but it depends on what poster wins and therefore which charity benefits. As far as I can tell ,Falkland is the only one to hang his/her head in shame ( and obviously I’ll take that back if it’s been paid) and PayPal do a confirmation receipt number. I’m in this for next 2/3 years so will be around anyway. My thinking is aligned with Fruit, yours etc that RMG are severely undervalued at present with much to come. The divi alone keeps me here.
Derek - just a question on GDPR - will that still apply once we’ve left the EU at end of year ?If it’s affected then advertising literature may again come back ,especially seeing that companies are pulling out of the likes of FB etc adverts,as the analysis shows they don’t pay. Also yes I think we should do another EOY SP prediction as long as others are happy to as well.I will start it off - same again £10 to winners choice of charity
POD - 366.00. Oakleaf
Yes Falkland you took part in the EOY SP with a prediction of 150 which Oilgarch won and chose Oakleaf charity for the £10 donation. So please can you honour that, or take your chance with karma . Next couple of weeks should be interesting leading up to update and I think the figures will be good and at some point IMO letters will start reversing the decline at some point. Many email scams are putting people off using them for invoices and other important things etc and as we know HMRC ONLY use letters for tax communication.
Patsyc hasn’t posted for a while but in any event he/she didn’t specify a charity so even if SP reached nearer 202 than Oilgarch prediction then I’m sure patsyc won’t mind which charity the money goes to. Very very thin volumes with around 400 trades. We won’t know the general direction until next week but the Christmas update will be the driver for the moment and then any news on CWU talks. Interestingly Waterstones ( books) have had a bumper time ( if you went in any of them over Christmas they were rammed) so although unrelated it goes to show that people who thought kindle killed off books were wrong - could the same be for letters ? Thanks again to everyone who donated to Oakleaf and a very happy new year !
Hi Fruit - I wish your daughter all the best for the future and also you and your family , as I know ,it also affects greatly all those around them as well . Support from family and friends is vital along with professional help. And as you say Red, money, shares etc are way down the list from mental and physical health. We have a wonderful country with some fantastic facilities that unfortunately some ( the media especially) don’t always recognise. Onwards and upwards all round for 2020.
Redceo - Thankyou for your kind words. It’s a shocking statistic in the U.K. that one in four of us will suffer mental health issues and luckily we have our NHS and charities that are a massive help, some countries unfortunately do not ,so we are very fortunate. Anyway , hope you have a great NYE and maybe the SP will give us something extra to celebrate !!
A big Thankyou to all who took part in the EOY SP competition and although it’s a tad premature with 1 and half days trading to go ( & tiniest of chance amazon come in with a bid)it seems that Oilgarch is the winner as will be closest to actual SP on 31st with a 250 p prediction. Pastyc was next nearest with 202. So congrats to Oilgarch and my donation to Oakleaf is ref IDN030033907000 a fantastic mental health charity that helps people get back to work and somewhere to go for help out of hours. They were a huge help for our son, hence my nomination of them and thankful to Oilgarch for nominating Oakleaf for donations. Happy new year to all and let’s hope the numbers are good in early Feb.
Bid - typo
So firstly happy new year to all & hope you had a good Christmas. EOY charity predictions are as follows and will be final on Jan 31st at close of business;
Redceo. 425 Oakleaf ( mental health)
StYd. 370 ditto
POD. 444 ditto
Fruitster. 390 beat
Derek R. 300 CP sport
Pastyc. 202 ?
Falkland. 150. ?
Late prediction - Oilgarch 250
So I’m unsure Oilgarch was before the cut off or not but if everyone else is happy with it,then we’ll include it. I think we said £10 to the charity of winners choice. I’m hoping for a late rally but realistically I think SP will hover around current price but you never know ,maybe amazon might come in with a did on news years eve !
Very thin volumes today as it’s Christmas Eve so will be more volatile until we get back to normal trading. It’s been odd this year as there hasn’t been a Santa rally on the markets - that seems to have happened on the GE result and not held on many shares. Have to remember though that we are 22.5 p up on dividends so really nearer 250 ish if you count those.
STD - Some interesting points there - and the crucial thing is both RMG and CWU must work together to recognise that the business needs to move forward. There has been far too much polarised views ( same as remainers and leavers in HOC) when they both must come together and work out how to go forward fairly. RMG has so much potential and stubbornness on both sides is preventing improvement. Maybe Santa can bring them together and Rico and Terry can share a Christmas drink together ho ho ho. Merry Christmas all.
JB - thearmchairtrader.com has a report from November basically saying the institutions are bullish on RMG long term and although no percentage holdings stated, it does say all the analysis is positive. I did see that back in May the institution holding percentage was 63% and now is 76% so that speaks volumes for LTH. Where’s the Santa rally ?
DerekR - please add me to your list of filtered - I’ve never heard such utter c@@p from a first class you know what ,that you are - face facts - you lost ,Labour and their Marxist policies are history and thank you Boris for doing such a great job. Onwards and upwards for RMG.
