Hey, I'm still about! Still holding here, more to come. Was a bit hairy back in the mid-90's but pleased to see we rebounded up nicely! Gas prices doing us some favours, hopefully will have another leg up soon. Good luck
Taken a bit of a hit the last couple of days - I'm not seeing any trades to justify the drop so will be maintating position. Seems that they are shaking to possibly get some new ones. There have been a few multi-million pound buys here in recent weeks - a few sales of £20k - £50k isn't really justifying this drop, IMO. I agree that an order may be being filled. GL to all, particuarly those holding their nerve!
Nice one, and thanks for your link yesterday. Perhaps see some action leading up to the 21st. Gold is back on the tip list - crossed the 100day MA but had the customary dip just before! Making me a few quid, nothing too serious as you know, but it all helps! Good luck to you, and hope you have a good evening
You can remove gold from that list of "good tips" too by the way! spoke a bit too soon!
Lol! good work! I did check this morning too ;-) So is gold but I think may need to wait till about noon to break through the 100day MA... been some good tips on here recently - VGAS / AEY / PDX / Gold...
Hmm, PDX eh... Well to be honest with you I know absolutely nothing about biofuels... so i'm not really too clued up on that to be honest! From the director buys, could be a good one, but then again its taken a bit of a battering recently and there could be some looking to jump ship. Without doing some more reading about that, I'm not really able to give an opinion i'm afraid, but director buys are usually quite a good thing, as is Blackrock's increased stake - they don't buy for the short term. Personally I'm actually opening exposure to some gold longs again; think that there could be some coming mileage in it so looking for a few quid on those hopefully. Always cheap to open and guaranteed stops. Would like to see a trade above say $1360 and then i'll look to open a bit more aggressively long. At the moment only on just under £30 / point (one at 1337 and another just in at 1352), so not a huge exposure yet...
Well nice to see everyone is still about, and a new face on the board! welcome! Seems to be going very nicely, few steps up, but still no news. What do we think will drive this? I'm thinking a resolution to legals might be close? I think my initial target of 140p will be rethought to be honest, when it gets to that level i'll have a review but for the moment I certainly think I shall maintain my position here. Flirker; I had a brief look at AEY and without going into too much detail on that, certainly looks like a very sound investment. Like I say, it was only a brief look about their website and some of the more recent RNS', but sure looks like the strategy is sound, though I think they could be a steady performer rather than explosive revaluation (unless a farmout partner is acquired in which case I shall eat my words!). I'm hoping to purchase some more physical shares in some different stocks soon for a long term view, and depending on the level its at, would settle for some of those at the moment. Should have some funds before too long and I'll post on the board if and when I dip in!
Good movement today, long may it continue! You still about Flirker / ihavenoclue?
I use IG for spreads. Sometimes the spread can be prohibitively high, especially when factoring in the margin for guaranteed stops. But they have saved me a couple of times from 5-figure liabilities, so i'm happy to have them to be quite honest. I tend to "trade" using spreads, and hold shares physically on a longer term view as I can purchase and forget all about them. More on-topic, i see that there have been some more late reported buy trades - about £1.5m worth from 1st Feb. This is what i love about this share - someone has a view to purchasing a stake here, and since its not exactly a highly traded stock it can run, and run, and run, and run... Look at the two year graph - basically the whole of 2009 it just went one way! Loving that!
Looks like we don't need that luck after all! Go VGAS, go!!
Ah, sorry to hear about the burn - never good. In my early days of the leveraged positions I too felt the pain... but after a while realised that I could "safely" leverage about 4x or 5x without too much lost sleep. I also have a pre-funded account so no bother with the NTR's - I just have to fund a relatively large amount and pay about 0.3pt for a guaranteed stop. Some shares I can't deal with because of that, but those are generally oilies looking for their next strike, and quite frankly those are just a gamble anyway! Happy here for a while - i'm on a June contract but might look to roll it should this still be looking like a good option, at these levels i'm still very bullish on this share, but always good to review, and re-review every now and then! Good luck to you, and here's hoping for a nice fat rise here!!
Gone leveraged on this one - got in sub-80p so now showing a nice little increase. Helps preserve a bit of capital for me, and the value of this share in the cash reserves, producing asset etc meant for me personally speaking it was a bit pointless in buying physical shares in this instance as I didn't see it going much lower...
Yep, up up and away! Currently +190% and counting...! Good luck to you!
Thanks for that - I'm still to look at the other share you mentioned... will try and have a look on Sunday Hope you're well, this one should keep on trotting along for us! Have a good weekend
And what a nice morning it is too! Some good trades going through - been a good few £m worth purchased by someone over the past couple of weeks. And with those late reported sells, i'm thinking that seller must have disposed of their holding by now since they only had under a million to go. Hopefully the brakes are now off - I didn't have a chance to look at AEY over the weekend, but i'll try and have a look when i get some time free. GL today, and roll on the rise. I remember this one likes to do 10% per day for weeks on end - lets hope its one of those runs...
Hey Stelwanos, sorry for the tardy response! I'm afraid to say VML is not a stock that is currently on my watchlist; I'm quite set in my ways as to the stocks that I trade as I quite like to know a bit about a company before I jump in - my random trades never seem to go too well for some reason! I've got a couple more that I'm looking to invest in; but not waiting for a couple of bits to fall into place before I take the plunge. I like to do a bit of research before buying (sounds like you do too). Hence I only have a basket of stocks really that I look at and try to time my trades on what I deem to be fair / unfair value. I like to expect about 100% returns too. However, on this one I'm actually leveraged so I'm shooting for an 1000% gain... Lol that's the theory anyway. Seem to be bucking the trend on this one today. Steady and consistent gains will do me nicely, thank you very much!! GL if you buy, keep us posted with your decisions. Always good to see a new face on this board, no offence Flirker!! You were already here!!
The spread is horrific in the morning in particular. So prob best not to buy/sell at that time, imo. Also, forgot to mention that this was one of the first shares I traded, so maybe a little biased! I see it at these levels as low risk, but reasonable (not spectacular though) sp increase. I'll stop hogging the board now! :-)
Lol, well balance sheets are a bit of a lottery, especially with aim shares to be honest. The $26m will simply amend the value of their other assets compared to the share capital of this particular company. Basically the way that the company would do it, is that issued share capital is basically the liabilities (plus any debt / loan notes etc etc) must equal the assets. So supposing that $26m is written off as an impairment, that will shrink the "assets" part (see March RNS for full year results). Look at "Intangible Assets", that will reduce by $26m (or some from property), but then the "Share Premium" will also drop - as assets and liabilities always have to balance (see 145,209k on both sides of assets / liabilities). All this does is reflect the value that the market currently place on the company. So not hugely relevant to be honest. An example of this would have been the dot com companies - their intangibles were always very high - there was not really any net worth to them, other than the value shareholders had placed upon that particular company. And as the market cap of the company was for eg. $100m, even if their only assets were a couple of servers in a basement, their intangibles would be say $99.9m, and equipment would be $0.1m. Obviously a very simplified example there! In my humble opinion, here you have a revenue generating company, with a modest income and modest plan for low-risk exploration in supra salt layers, to increase their income slightly. They have more than enough money to cover this year from their current cash alone ($25m cash, $8m projected spend) and for that they will get 3x exploration wells, hopefully increasing their proven resources, and 1x producer well. That's my reconing. I have a modest target SP of 140p, but again, this I perceive to be a realistic and likely sp. Bonuses to this would be in the form of greater resources (could cause a re-rating) and a resolution of the legal issues - which would be a c. $20m booster. Also, a large seller as Flirker says is hopefully running out of shares soon, and so we could see a bit of a rise. Not many of these shares are in free-float, so again, that's a positive for me as you only need a fraction of the trades for a larger share movement. Only my opinion and reasoning for my investment here, could be 60p tomorrow! GL whatever you decide to do
Hello! Another face on the board! :-) Impairment charge - basically the costs for the well are being taken off the P&L sheet for the company. As it was a sub-salt well they had quite a bit of value placed upon that well as an asset. Seeing as it didn't produce, its net value now to the company has unfortunately declined to 0.
Bit miffed as to the drop today... seems to be on very low volumes so not particuarly concerning for me. Might get a few more of these, if they are at this level for too much longer...
