Newdealz as I’ve mentioned before there were nearly 400 (or 300) who refused the free shares which totalled 913. A free £5000 at the height of the share price. Odd eh?
Ava-Dean, our shares are with IDS, which includes GLS, you know the company that actually makes money…
Yes Anger, I’ve watched it too. Hopefully any (sane) posties who’ve seen it will vote yes. However, there will be thousands who won’t vote at all and most will do as the union say no matter what. So, I predict that the vote will be a narrow yes. Even though it would be interesting to see what happens with a no return.
IsleworthSpy, as I said in my post at 14:02 posties should buy shares to stop someone taking over. Why you question that I don’t know.
The Lexus business is tongue-in-cheek that’s all. I don’t like Japanese cars.
There were nearly 300 or 400 people who refused the free shares! I didn’t particularly think it was a good idea going public but I thought I might as well make the most of it. I too did the sharesave scheme by which time my fellow posties came onboard. If only all the workforce would buy more shares….to stop anyone taking over.
I have. I bought the £10,000 worth we were all guaranteed at the IPO. Only myself and the boss did so. I did encourage my fellow posties but they were either suspicious or maybe didn’t have the spare cash. I’ll keep them for the foreseeable.
Dowsie3, the bungalow only arrived last year. The o/t I referred to was in the days of two deliveries. I stopped doing it when the DoM suddenly reduced the hours we got for doing half a walk from 4 to 2.5. I immediately ceased. Then along came my legal eagle who encouraged me to retire and live with her; how could I refuse? Happy days.
The 911 came years ago when I was working as a North Manchester postie. I’m a poor pensioner now with a 7 year old Fiesta. So I suppose I’m now ex-postman ex-Porsche. But I’m no longer walking the streets for a living with the likes of certain people on here. Happy days, vote……
Anger, I wouldn’t be seen dead in a Lexus. You should have seen my boss’s face when I told him I was picking my new 911 up the day after.
Anger, I did the job for 27 years but never really fitted in. I think all the flash cars I had was maybe the reason. I never agreed with going on strike in previous disputes but did, as I didn’t see it as losing money: you don’t work so don’t get paid was fine by me. I previously worked for the TSB so knew a bit about shares; my first foray was buying 100 Cable and Wireless maybe around 1980.
Oligarch, my pension has only gone up 5%…I only joined in 1997 so it may be a different scheme.
Hi Anger, I keep in touch with an old colleague and he says even though they’re all voting No they’ll be staying in the union. So they’ve gone on strike when the union says and following them 100% but refusing to do as they recommend. Very odd. Ps. Keep up the banter, it’s ace.
What does keep annoying me from the hierarchy of the union is them saying that RM made £758m last year.
Ah sorry, I thought you’d done a spread bet thing.
Newdealz, could you elaborate on your £760 per point quote?
What happened to the posties doing everything the union says? Strike they said, so they did. Accept the offer they say, but……No! Very odd. I’m glad I’m not there anymore.
I keep in touch with my old mates in my delivery office in Manchester. They’re all voting No apparently. But they were/are a bit clueless. I told them to pile in 10 years ago when the IPO happened: only my boss and I bothered.
38m, wow. I’ve a measly 348 thousand!
I’m not sure the offer WILL be accepted. There were people in my office who used to always vote no no matter what the offer was.
kitkateat if people post less items guess what, there’ll be less profits. And striking for 18 days doesn’t help.
