Well said Fred
Guys, I have been a share holder since 2009 and on this BB since 2011. I lost my wife to cancer this May 9th and as some of the long term holders know my son died in a motor cycle accident a few years ago.
I have not watched the BB for a long time but petty squables are still there. I am currently 170,000 pounds down on my investment. This was money I had saved from a very ordinary job.
Am I bothered. Well it´s not nice but I am taking it on the chin but I have learned that there are other far more important issues in life. My wife´s death after 54 years of being married happily is still raw. I wish all investors well and hope CF manages to get through this financial difficulty as I now believe I will eventually get through mine
Thanks PAAA. You are a good man. Yes,difficult but I am , I hope ,coming to terms with the situation and think I am stronger after you will remember our son´s death.
Puts all the petty bickering from testosterone filled young men into perspective.
Enjoy your lives to the full. We are not long on this planet.
Tnx Cranleigh but can u or anyone find out if any shares are owned by Caxton Associates , managed by Andrew Law in London and if so when he first invested.
Can anyone tell me when Capital Group in the US FIRST owned shares in Sirius or when it first came to light.
Was it before January 2018. I think it was but please confirm.
Tnx PhilBanks,
Do u know if there is a connection with Cam Capital founded by Bruce Kovner
I do not have time to research. My wife has had a stroke due to terminal cancer and I am full time 24 hour carer..
I was at college with Bruce back in 1960's
PhilBanks,
Can you provide the names of the fund managers please? I have a genuine reason for asking.
Thank you Paaa, Casapinos (don`t suppose you live in Spanish villa with a pine garden?) GK and Scotman.... apologies Scotman if we have met at an AGM or corresponded via iii website with you under a different moniker.
I found the replies interesting and accept that there are probably, nay certainly, myriad ways in which the top guys become top dogs but as you say Paaa I would prefer to have a cocoa and go to bed!
Hi GK,
I know for a fact that some individuals DO have high level contacts, power, knowledge of how the "system" works.
I know!
And armed with the above plus a very high IQ, education, experience and successful investing over many decades a few can become billionaires. I know.
I ask again of any posters with financial experience to answer my post of 17.14. Question 1 2 etc in that order. Specific anwers to specific questions.
Over a drink GK with your favourite ale I might be tempted to give more information, providing this time you buy!
But I will never divulge the name of my friend of almost 60 years and would never ask the above questions of him,or her, for fear of spoiling that friendship.
Forgive my ignorance.
Q1 Are buys made from the US during the overlap of the trading day known to the MM`s here in UK immediately?
Q2 Presumably they are known at some point. Yes or no?
Q3 Is it possible that a HNW individual is hoovering up shares and can this HNW individual be from the USA?
Q4 Can a HNW individual, perhaps someone who controls a hedge fund or large capital fund for instance, manipulate the sp down to the present level when a stock such as SXX is so volatile. Put another way can this HNW individual say " I want x million but I am only prepared to pay 20p."
I would value the input of several on this board. I will name a few in no order of seniority. Insanity Beckons, Myo, Paaa, GK. There are no doubt others some of whom will have a banking, broker, financial background. I welcome polite answers. I am too old to go in for any acrimony. Those of you who know me know that I have been invested here since 2009 and am a genuine bloke.
Thanks IB for this excellent link. All very exciting stuff this week especially. I wonder if this interactive map is in lieu of the quarterly update in which case that is fine by me and that perhaps in the coming few weeks, even days, we will get the update that we all crave re St2.
Good news Shef that you are still around and what a good post after a lot of less than interesting Brexit discussion.
I well remember your kind words back in October 2011. And well done on the PhD.
J.G. If you are still looking. Is Bruce your dad or does the Bruce you refer to go by the initials BSK, your fellow compatriot?
Old Rascal nice 22.26 post. I can relate to that albeit with a few more shares and original buy at 2p.
Sorry. blip on pc
You old sleuth Myo
You old sleuth Myo.
You old sleuth Myo.
South Teesside was mentioned albeit very briefly among other areas.
Thanks for the BBC article. Although optimistic having seen the recent links/ photos of the directors and the Chancellor and especially this article just days before the budget Mrs Popex has put the dampers on it by suggesting it could have been desperation to get Hammond to move or to encourage the many N.Yorks investors. But I am the optimist.
In my widest optimism I think there is a possibilty that a HNW individual, having been made aware of Sirius Minerals 6 months ago , and having subsequently learned of the short fall of 400m _ 600m has seen a macro opportunity and may have
a) been filling his boots b) shorting and filling boots c) has taken a stake in part of the 400/600m for 1% plus of the company.
It has been leaked that the Chancellor wants pension funds to invest in start ups. Most pension fund managers will not do this because of obvious perceived risks and because they must ensure their obligatory payouts are balanced by secure investments. But if a HNW individual, a White Knight with a proven track record over many decades were to be involved, it might encourage UK pension managers to take more risks and with the huge potential divis that SXX will provide.
Of course many here will poo poo the above as nonsense. ........maybe. It will be an exciting next few weeks when we will know the state of play and let us hope that all, especially those LTH's who have invested for so long , reap the rewards.
