"I mainly pay cash/cheque for things" lmao, it's not the 80's or 90's don't think I could find my cheque book if I had to and very rarely use cash... Ok I did tonight for badminton. Debt is not the root of all evil, it facilitates both personal wealth and gives business's the ability to generate revenue. Bought my first house in '98 with a 100% graduate mortgage earning £23k, Ok only a flat for £73k on 6% interest, but I sold for £113k in 2001 so £40k generated due to debt lol. In every single transaction I've made on the housing ladder, always looked back and wish I'd borrowed more to maximise property gains. Only have a small <£300k mortgage now, locked at 1.3% for 5 years but looking to move and take on more debt as it's only <20% of my take-home. Debt is fine as long as it can be afforded and $4B at an average of 4.5% ain't bad in my opinion, high yes but was coming down pre-covid and will again.
