have a question for the clever people...It around the ex dividend dates.

Take the below:
Final dividend of 4.46 pence per share
Will be paid on 2 June 2023
To shareholders on the register at 12 May 2023
Ex dividend 11 May 2023

If I buy on the 11th - Do I get the dividend? As I will be on the register on the 12th?
If I sell on the 12th - Do I get the dividend? As I was in on the ex-div date and on the register on open? But not at the close?

It's sort of clear but not clear :)

Cheers. I saw that several different places were showing different prices. I guess it will sort itself out!

MaryBr190 - I operate in much the same way. Core holding buy and hold. Then trade "extra" positions as and when the prices rises falls to lower my average LT.

Sounds easy written down :) - But on balance I am just about making it work. Which I will take in the current climate.

Confidence is a strong word! I would say opportunistic. Time will tell whether it is inspired or ignorant!

You can hold me to either!

Was still heavily underwater from 2021, Topped up this morning at 102.

Break-even brought down to 136. Here's hoping!

Closing bell - Yesterday?

On first look over of the results - glad I didn't!

I'm averaging 87 - As I've (for once) actually managed to buy some lows and take some profit here and there.

Medium to long term this has legs as Monty mentions below... But i'm still thinking of selling half before the bell as these markets are treacherous - Then stick it back in on any short term weakness.

To clarify: I meant "Drift slowly DOWN, leading UP to the next results."

Then a rise up near results time. I'll be back in then.

I sold half yesterday, left half in for today. I suspect this will drift slowly up to the next results (has been the patern to date). I will likely take profit also and get back in later.

As suspected good but not great.

Hoping for good results. Can't see why they won't be. But yes most probably fall back if not barnstorming.

But the long play is where its at.

Fall in £ means that short haul holidays become more expensive.

Overdone IMHO. I'll be buying if dips under 100.

Sadly, any results that are merely 'good reads' get met with a sell off under these market conditions. Wait till next year i guess!
