For the advice, am not going to sell them, as wouldn't know what else to buy (know nowt about tomatoes etc!!!)ideally want to turn the pc off for a few months (although take a few peeks as we approach year end results )!!!, but its quite addictive !! all positive, if sales are busy,so is finance, so are workshops, hence parts, one of the spin offs of the scrappage has been through parts and workshop, your 10 year old car never visited a dealership (generalisation I know), main dealers dont really stock parts for that age of car either, all these new cars have been through workshops there, and will be returning for the next few years for annual service ! again, apologies if this is a nieve view, just observations I have made along the way !

No, not really, in fact insiginficant amounts to most. I had some money set aside earlier in the year, all my friends in the industry were telling me to pile into pdg and inch, as far back as Feb, I didn't and watched the share prices rise. I have spent a lot of time listening and researching. I am very new to shares, however I invested very recently in pdg and inch, on this basis. Are both companies in a better / Stronger position than, lets say 6 months ago, in my opinion yes. and is the market they are in at the moment / short to mid term , better than 6 months ago, again a definate yes. Only in my opinion. Apologies to the more experienced if that sounds nieve, its just my judgement and to be frank, I feel very fortunate to have got in at recent levels.

I believe that funding vehicles through the dealerships has been much better than anticipated, Giving a welcolm boost to income recieved, which to be fair makes sense, as banks / direct lenders have been reluctant to lend as much as previously in the past 12 months, that shortfall been taken up by dealers,

Afternoon folks, It wouldn't be unusual to increase borrowing (short term) at this moment in time. Many manufactureres offer new cars to be purchased outright to dealers. These are usually at much discounted terms, and generally fly out, as they are great value. (my friends in the industry call them Pack cars) I believe The plc's generally benefit from these more than smaller retailers where cashflow could be more of an issue, also certain dealers are able to stock up with well priced used cars, before the January / Feb price increases, again in bulk, giving an advantage over smaller franchised dealers, and indeed car supermarkets, where stock generally hasn't been offered to for a lot of the year. Nice to see some deserved confidence in the share today.

That trend will continue into the medium term in my opinion, the 57% could have been much higher if the availability was there during November,although from what I believe, targets were achieved if not exceeded, hence the positives I see going into 2010 with good oreder levels. I am told that used car sales have been very positive as some customers have opted to go for a 6 month old example of vehicles, rather than wait 4 months plus for a new car. Interestingly auction prices seem to have remained much more stable than this period in previous years, possibly being to less availibility of good quality 6-12 month old product, I would imagine a result of less vehicles available to the rental / short term hire markets this year. first post folks, however followed these boards around car sales retail with interest for a while, the volume issue is certainly of interest, most dealers I am aware of are well above budgets and plans for 2009, and the future ordertake is very very healthy for first quarter of next year, a lot of dealerships so I am told have protected customers orders from the vat increase (ie those which will be delivered in the first quarter) I am also led to believe that the end of Feb is the last date for ordering only on scrappage, howver, these cars could be delivered to new customers well into the second quarter of next year. I think a lot of people will be very surprised at how bouyant things are out there, everything to me is pointing to a fantastic year end and a fab start to 2010.
